LLM Authority Index Research | Google AI Overviews | Insurance | July-September 2026
Google AI Overviews does not use the same source mix for every insurance question, and the source market changes materially when the analysis is restricted to high-stakes insurance decisions rather than broad web queries.
LLM Authority Index analyzed 4,266 deduplicated Google AI Overviews responses across 12 insurance verticals from July through September 2026. Those responses produced 19,352 visible citation events, 1,475 cited registrable domains, and 16,192 domain-response appearances under the same response-level counting framework used throughout the 2026 AI Citation Authority research series.
NerdWallet ranked #1, appearing in 17.4% of responses. U.S. News ranked #2 at 15.6%, Forbes #3 at 12.0%, Reddit #4 at 11.2%, and Money.com #5 at 9.9%.
The insurance-specific Google AI Overviews source universe is substantially more concentrated than the broad Google AI Overviews high-stakes source universe. The Top 100 domains in this insurance slice account for 70.7% of domain-response appearances, compared with 51.9% in the overall Google AI Overviews study.
The category filter also changes which domains matter. This insurance AIO Top 100 shares 90 domains with the all-platform insurance Top 100, but only 42 domains with the overall Google AI Overviews Top 100. That gap is a practical warning against using one platform-wide citation list as a universal publisher strategy for insurance.
For carriers, brokers, comparison sites, publishers and CMOs, the more useful question is not simply, "Which websites does Google AI Overviews cite?" It is:
Which websites does Google AI Overviews cite when consumers are making specific insurance decisions?
This study is the intersection of the Insurance Citation Authority Study and the Google AI Overviews Top 100 study.

Why This Research Belongs in Daily AI Search Marketing Decisions
This study is research-based, but its purpose is commercial decision support.
This article sits at the intersection of two commercially useful views of the same source market:
- the Google AI Overviews platform view, which asks which sources recur across high-stakes decisions on one Google surface; and
- the Insurance category view, which asks which sources recur across six AI platforms for one insurance decision family.
For publishers, that intersection creates a more precise commercial claim than simply saying a site is "visible in AI." A publisher can document whether its visibility is strong specifically inside Google AI Overviews for insurance decisions, whether that visibility persists over time, and whether its authority is broad across several insurance products or concentrated in one specialist category.
For carriers, brokers, comparison sites, insurtechs and CMOs, the operating question is:
Which sources are already present around the exact insurance decisions our customers ask Google AI Overviews to help them make?
Three findings matter for daily planning:
- the Top 100 account for 70.7% of domain-response appearances in this insurance AIO slice;
- 82 domains remained in the Top 100 in July, August and September; and
- the median of the three monthly Top 100 Jaccard comparisons was 77.0%.
That is a strong persistence signal for this platform-category intersection.
The final validated Insurance child studies show that the Google AI Overviews insurance Top 100 shared 87 domains with Google AI Mode, 59 with Perplexity, 53 with Gemini and 52 with ChatGPT. The Microsoft Copilot Insurance child file is currently corrupted and duplicates Gemini content, so this article does not use that child file to calculate a Google AI Overviews vs. Copilot overlap.
The parent Insurance category study remains the authoritative six-platform summary. It reports 80.2% temporal persistence, 29.0% cross-platform portability, and an approximate 51.2 percentage-point Persistence-Portability Gap under the published summary-based methodology.
That category gap is exploratory. It is based on the published category summary statistics, not a new platform-by-month controlled experiment.
This article should not create a separate platform-category gap by subtracting its 77.0% monthly persistence from one pairwise platform overlap. Those measurements use different comparison structures.
The defensible commercial conclusion is:
Google AI Overviews insurance authority is highly persistent over time, but it does not transfer evenly to other AI engines, and the relevant source market changes again by insurance product.
Current outside research supports that narrower interpretation. Conductor's 2026 insurance benchmark reports that an AI Overview appeared on 40.7% of the insurance searches in its separate AIO panel and that 53.3% of AIO citations went to pages outside Google's organic top 10. Conductor insurance benchmarks
Temso's Q2 2026 insurance study reports that 54.5% of Google AI Overview citations in its multinational insurance corpus went to commercial domains, while average overlap among model Top 20 source lists was only 26.4%. Temso insurance source study
Those studies use different prompt populations, countries, denominators and ranking metrics. Their percentages should not be imported into this ranking. The useful agreement is structural: insurance source behavior changes by model, market and source type.
Commercial Action Matrix: What Publishers and CMOs Can Do With the Findings
| Research finding | What insurance publishers can responsibly say | What carriers, brokers and CMOs can reasonably do |
|---|---|---|
| NerdWallet, U.S. News, Forbes, Reddit and Money.com lead this insurance Google AI Overviews source map | "Our domain is measurably visible in Google AI Overviews for high-stakes insurance decisions." | Use the category leaders as a strategic research tier, then evaluate fit for the exact insurance product and prompt cluster. |
| The Top 100 account for 70.7% of domain-response appearances | "Insurance AIO sourcing is highly concentrated in this measured panel." | Start with the recurring high-authority source layer before expanding into specialists and the long tail. |
| 82 domains remained in the Top 100 across all three months | "Multi-month visibility is stronger evidence of durable AIO authority than a one-time screenshot." | Maintain a stable source-priority list and update it with current data rather than rebuilding it from scratch every month. |
| Median monthly Top 100 persistence is 77.0% | "The leading insurance AIO source portfolio was highly persistent during the study window." | Use persistence as a planning signal while still monitoring individual high-value prompts and verticals. |
| Google AI Overviews shares 87 Insurance Top 100 domains with Google AI Mode | "The two Google AI surfaces have unusually strong insurance source overlap." | Coordinate Google-focused publisher strategy while continuing to measure AI Overviews and AI Mode separately. |
| Google AI Overviews shares 59 domains with Perplexity, 53 with Gemini and 52 with ChatGPT | "Strong insurance AIO authority does not establish equivalent authority on every AI engine." | Maintain platform-specific source maps rather than extending Google assumptions across the market. |
| The Insurance parent study reports a 51.2-point exploratory Persistence-Portability Gap | "Insurance source authority was much more persistent over time than portable across platforms in this panel." | Separate the time question from the platform question when deciding which publishers deserve ongoing investment. |
| The insurance AIO Top 100 shares only 42 domains with the overall Google AI Overviews Top 100 | "Category-specific authority can be commercially meaningful even without broad platform-wide rank." | Use insurance-specific source maps instead of generic lists of sites Google AI Overviews cites. |
| Policygenius, Delta Dental, Medicare.gov, Squaremouth and other specialists lead individual product decisions | "Our strongest authority may be product-specific rather than category-wide." | Build source strategy at the exact insurance-product and prompt-cluster level. |
| Temso finds Google AI Overview unusually commercial-domain heavy in its insurance corpus | "First-party and commercial sources can coexist with editorial and community sources in the visible AIO layer." | Audit first-party product and educational content alongside earned-media and publisher opportunities. |
| Conductor finds many insurance AIO citations outside the organic top 10 | "Organic rank and AI Overview citation visibility are related but distinct measurements." | Track AIO source presence separately from traditional SEO rank rather than treating one as a proxy for the other. |
| Citation visibility does not establish recommendation causality | "Our content is measurably present in the visible AIO source layer." | Use citation data to prioritize research, PR and content work, then separately measure mentions, recommendation rate, rank, sentiment and citation-recommendation coupling. |
The daily operating model is therefore four-layered:
- Durable insurance AIO core: maintain the sources that repeatedly matter across months.
- Product-specific layer: identify which sources dominate the exact insurance decision.
- Source-role layer: separate publishers, comparison sites, government sources, communities and first-party carrier domains.
- Cross-platform check: determine whether the same sources also matter in AI Mode, ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Copilot.
Citation visibility is evidence of source presence. It is not proof that obtaining coverage, advertising, a partnership or a placement on a cited domain will cause Google AI Overviews to recommend an insurer or product.

How This Study Fits the High-Stakes Consumer Decisions Research Corpus
Article 18 is the intersection of two parent studies:
It should also be read with:
- the 2026 AI Citation Authority Study, which establishes the full high-stakes source ecosystem;
- the Persistence-Portability Gap, which separates temporal durability from cross-platform transferability;
- Do AI Platforms Cite the Same Websites?, which provides the overall platform-overlap framework;
- How Stable Are AI Citations?, which separates portfolio persistence from same-prompt stability; and
- Reddit's Decline in AI Citations for Insurance, plus the Google AI Overviews Insurance Reddit trend study, for longitudinal source movement.
What We Studied
This article uses the same frozen July-September 2026 source archive and analytical rules as the flagship LLM Authority Index citation study.
The slice is restricted to:
- Platform family: Google AI Overviews
- Research family: Insurance
- Time window: July, August and September 2026
- Primary metric: response-level registrable-domain citation coverage
- Secondary metric: raw visible citation events
Study size
| Measure | Count |
|---|---|
| Raw Google AI Overviews insurance observations | 4,349 |
| Explicit extraction failures | 0 |
| Deduplicated eligible responses | 4,266 |
| Visible citation events after public filtering | 19,352 |
| Cited registrable domains | 1,475 |
| Domain-response appearances | 16,192 |
Monthly response composition
| Month | Deduplicated AIO insurance responses |
|---|---|
| July 2026 | 1,268 |
| August 2026 | 1,520 |
| September 2026 | 1,478 |
The panel is not perfectly balanced by month because the source archive does not contain July datasets for Long-Term Care Insurance, Renters Insurance, or Vision Insurance. Missing historical vertical data is treated as unavailable, not as zero.
Insurance Verticals Covered
The article covers the following 12 source vertical labels:
- Car Insurance
- Dental insurance
- Disability Insurance
- Health Insurance
- Life Insurance Companies
- Long-Term Care Insurance
- Medicare Supplement Insurance
- Pet Insurance
- Renters Insurance
- Short Term Health Insurance
- Travel Insurance
- Vision Insurance
These are source filename labels in the research archive. They should not be interpreted as 12 statistically independent industries. Some prompts can overlap across adjacent insurance decisions.

The Insurance AIO Source Market Is More Concentrated Than Broad Google AI Overviews
| Ranking depth | Share of insurance AIO domain-response appearances | Share of insurance AIO citation events |
|---|---|---|
| Top 10 | 26.5% | 27.8% |
| Top 25 | 43.9% | 45.8% |
| Top 50 | 57.9% | 59.5% |
| Top 100 | 70.7% | 73.1% |
The Top 100 capture 70.7% of domain-response appearances in the Google AI Overviews insurance slice.
For comparison:
- the all-platform insurance study's Top 100 capture 65.9% of insurance domain-response appearances; and
- the overall Google AI Overviews study's Top 100 capture 51.9% of AIO domain-response appearances across all four high-stakes research families.
This means the intersection of one platform plus one commercial category is more concentrated than either parent cut.
That does not prove Google has a fixed insurance whitelist. It shows that, within this measured panel, a relatively small set of domains accounted for a large share of visible source appearances.

Which Sources Gain the Most When the Analysis Is Restricted to Insurance?
A domain can rank modestly in broad Google AI Overviews yet become strategically important inside insurance.
The table below compares insurance response coverage with the domain's overall Google AI Overviews coverage across all four high-stakes research families.
| Domain | Rank in AIO insurance panel | Insurance response coverage | AIO overall coverage | Insurance-category lift |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| squaremouth.com | 10 | 6.14% | 1.48% | 4.16x |
| insuremytrip.com | 12 | 5.09% | 1.22% | 4.16x |

| dentalinsurance.com | 42 | 1.80% | 0.43% | 4.16x |
| choicemutual.com | 43 | 1.76% | 0.42% | 4.16x |
| directbenefits.com | 45 | 1.71% | 0.41% | 4.16x |
| trupanion.com | 52 | 1.50% | 0.36% | 4.16x |
| anthem.com | 53 | 1.48% | 0.35% | 4.16x |
| americanvisitorinsurance.com | 54 | 1.48% | 0.35% | 4.16x |
| thebig65.com | 55 | 1.43% | 0.34% | 4.16x |
| doctormgt.com | 60 | 1.24% | 0.30% | 4.16x |
Several patterns stand out.
Squaremouth, InsureMyTrip, Pawlicy, Allianz Travel Insurance, Spirit Dental and several other specialists have roughly four times their broad AIO response coverage when the prompt population is restricted to insurance.
Policygenius also becomes much more prominent. It ranks #11 in the insurance AIO panel at 5.8% response coverage, compared with 1.4% across the full AIO high-stakes panel.
This is why platform-wide publisher rankings should not be the final earned-media list for a vertical brand. A lower-ranked specialist can be disproportionately visible for the exact questions that matter commercially.

The vertical cuts show that insurance authority is not one market.
- Car Insurance: U.S. News leads at 11.4%, followed by Insurify and The Zebra.
- Dental Insurance: Delta Dental leads at 30.5%, followed by Spirit Dental, Humana and Money.com.
- Disability Insurance: Guardian Life leads at 15.2%, with Policygenius and NerdWallet close behind.
- Health Insurance: HealthcareInsider leads at 21.7%, followed by Kaiser Permanente and Forbes.
- Life Insurance: Policygenius leads at 36.3%, followed by NerdWallet and Ethos.
- Long-Term Care Insurance: CNBC leads the smaller two-month sample at 11.1%.
- Medicare Supplement: NerdWallet leads at 30.3%, while Medicare.gov ranks second at 24.5%.
- Pet Insurance: U.S. News leads at 35.7%, narrowly ahead of Pawlicy at 34.2%.
- Renters Insurance: NerdWallet leads at 40.4%, followed by The Zebra and U.S. News.
- Short Term Health Insurance: UnitedHealthcare leads at 7.5%, with Forbes and Investopedia close behind.
- Travel Insurance: U.S. News leads at 45.0%, narrowly ahead of Squaremouth at 44.8% and InsureMyTrip at 37.1%.
- Vision Insurance: Reddit leads at 14.4%, followed by Arizona's Vision and VSP.
These rankings are descriptive of the measured response panels. Smaller vertical samples, especially Long-Term Care Insurance, should not be interpreted with the same confidence as larger verticals such as Travel Insurance, Dental Insurance or Pet Insurance.

Broad Publisher Authority and Specialist Insurance Authority Are Different Assets
The insurance AIO panel contains both broad multi-vertical publishers and narrow category specialists.
Forbes and Reddit appear across all 12 insurance verticals. NerdWallet, Money.com, Investopedia and YouTube appear across 11. U.S. News and Yahoo appear across 10.
That breadth can matter to publishers because it demonstrates repeated visibility across different insurance buying decisions rather than one isolated prompt set.
But breadth is not the only form of commercial value.
Squaremouth ranks #10 overall in the insurance AIO panel, yet its visibility is concentrated almost entirely in Travel Insurance. Pawlicy ranks #17 overall but is a top source for Pet Insurance. Policygenius ranks #11 overall and is the leading source in Life Insurance. Delta Dental ranks #20 overall but leads Dental Insurance.
A CMO evaluating earned-media targets should therefore separate two concepts:
- broad authority: a domain appears across many insurance decisions; and
- specialist authority: a domain is disproportionately visible for one commercially important decision cluster.
Both can be valuable, but they answer different marketing questions.
Insurance Google AI Overviews Rankings Were Persistent, but Not Static
| Month comparison | Shared Top 100 domains | Jaccard similarity |
|---|---|---|
| July vs. August | 87 | 76.99% |
| July vs. September | 83 | 70.94% |
| August vs. September | 92 | 85.19% |
Across all three months, 82 domains remained in the Google AI Overviews insurance Top 100.
The top ranks were also relatively stable:
- NerdWallet ranked #1 in July, August and September.
- U.S. News ranked #2 in all three months.
- Forbes moved #4 to #4 to #3.
- Reddit moved #3 to #3 to #5.
- Money.com moved #5 to #5 to #4.
The July-to-September Top 100 Jaccard similarity was 70.9%, which indicates meaningful continuity but also leaves room for material source rotation below the very top ranks.
This should not be confused with same-prompt source stability. Aggregate Top 100 persistence can coexist with substantial source-set turnover for an individual repeated question, as shown in the separate citation-drift study.

How This Study Relates to Other Insurance and AI Search Research
Conductor: 3.6 million insurance brand citations and a separate AIO benchmark
Conductor's 2026 Insurance AI Search & AI Overviews Benchmarks analyzes more than 3.6 million insurance brand citations across seven answer engines from January through May 2026 and more than 178,000 prompts. Its separate Google AI Overviews analysis covers a rolling May 20 to June 20 snapshot of 2.9 million U.S. Google searches. Conductor reports that an AI Overview appeared on 40.7% of those insurance searches and that 53.3% of AIO citations went to pages that did not rank in Google's organic top 10. (Conductor insurance benchmarks)
Conductor's underlying industry model differs materially from this study. It classifies the cited domain into an insurance industry framework and reports leaders among insurance brands, carriers, brokers and aggregators. LLMAI begins with a high-stakes insurance prompt family and counts all visible cited domains, including broad publishers, community sites, government sources, insurers and specialists.
That difference helps explain why Conductor highlights insurance-company and broker domains such as Insureon, Progressive and The Hartford, while the LLMAI AIO insurance ranking is led by NerdWallet and U.S. News.
Temso: more than 220,000 insurance citations across four models and 12 countries
Temso's Q2 2026 insurance study analyzes more than 220,000 source citations across 22,063 responses, four AI models, 12 countries and seven languages. It reports that 54.5% of Google AI Overview citations in its insurance corpus went to commercial domains and that the average pairwise overlap among model Top 20 source lists was only 26.4%. (Temso insurance source study)
Temso's Google AI Overview leaders include Reddit, Insurance Business Magazine, Canstar and Choice in a multinational prompt population. LLMAI's leaders are different because its prompt population, geography mix, market structure, time window and ranking metric are different.
The shared lesson is stronger than the specific rankings: insurance source authority is platform-sensitive and prompt-population-sensitive.
Tinuiti and Profound: commercial prompt tracking across major AI platforms
Tinuiti's 2026 AI Citation Trends research tracks mid-to-lower-funnel commercial prompts across major AI platforms, including Google AI Overviews. Insurance is not one of the nine Q1 categories, but the methodology is relevant because Tinuiti explicitly warns that platforms expose different citation depths and that cross-platform raw citation shares can therefore be misleading. (Tinuiti Q1 methodology)
LLM Authority Index addresses the same problem by using response-level domain presence as the primary ranking metric and retaining raw citation events only as a secondary measure.
Tinuiti's Q3 report also reinforces that source mixes evolve over time and differ across platform and prompt categories. (Tinuiti Q3 AI Citation Trends Report)

How the LLM Authority Index Study Is Different
The study is not differentiated because it is the largest insurance citation dataset. It is not. Conductor's insurance corpus is much larger, and Temso also analyzes a substantial insurance-specific source corpus.
The LLMAI contribution is the combination of:
- one defined platform family: Google AI Overviews;
- one high-stakes commercial decision family: Insurance;
- 12 explicitly enumerated insurance source verticals;
- three monthly measurement periods;
- response-level registrable-domain citation coverage as the primary metric;
- raw visible citation events as a secondary metric;
- global exact-repeat handling across overlapping source exports;
- Public Suffix List registrable-domain consolidation;
- explicit extraction-failure accounting;
- comparison against both the all-platform insurance ranking and the overall Google AI Overviews ranking; and
- commercial interpretation for publishers, carriers, brokers and CMOs.
The key research object is not "the websites Google cites most." It is the narrower intersection of Google AI Overviews + high-stakes insurance decisions + a defined three-month panel.
Why Google AI Overviews Insurance Citation Studies Can Disagree
Two studies can both be methodologically serious and still publish different source rankings.
Important reasons include:
- Prompt population. Car insurance comparison prompts and life-insurance eligibility prompts create different source markets.
- Geography. Insurance products, regulations, carriers and publishers vary by country and state.
- Intent mix. Educational questions, pricing questions, comparison questions and brand-specific questions can produce different sources.
- Time window. A June AIO snapshot is not the same as a July-September panel.
- Metric. Raw citation share, response coverage, citation market share and rank frequency are different denominators.
- Industry classification. A study can classify the cited domain as an insurance company, while another can begin with an insurance question and retain every source domain.
- Domain normalization. Subdomains and country domains can be combined differently.
- Visible-citation extraction. Different providers may expose different pieces of Google's rendered source surface.
- Query triggering. Google AI Overviews does not appear for every search, and tracking tools can differ in how consistently they trigger and capture AIOs.
- Personalization and location. Google results can change with geography, account state and product changes.
- Source filtering. Technical, navigation or platform-owned assets may be treated differently.
- Duplicate handling. Overlapping exports can inflate source counts if exact repeats are not handled.
The most defensible comparison begins with the denominator and collection contract, not the headline rank.

What the Results Mean for Insurance Publishers
Publishers can use this study to separate three types of AI visibility.
1. Broad insurance breadth
A publisher appearing across many of the 12 insurance verticals can show that its citation visibility is not limited to one narrow line of insurance.
2. Google AI Overviews visibility
A strong all-platform insurance ranking does not guarantee the same position inside Google AI Overviews. Forbes, for example, is #1 in the all-platform insurance study but #3 in the AIO insurance slice. U.S. News rises to #2 inside AIO.
3. Vertical specialization
A specialist publisher can have significant commercial value even if it ranks below broad publishers overall. Squaremouth, Policygenius, InsureMyTrip and Pawlicy are examples of domains whose insurance-specific AIO visibility materially exceeds their broad-platform visibility.
Publishers should present this as measured source visibility, not as proof that Google endorses the publisher or that a citation caused a downstream brand recommendation.
What the Results Mean for Insurance CMOs and Brands
A carrier, broker, insurtech company or comparison site can turn the ranking into a more disciplined AI-search outreach workflow.
Start with the exact insurance product and prompt cluster
A life-insurance brand should not begin with the Travel Insurance source list. A Medicare Supplement marketer should not begin with the Car Insurance list.
Identify recurring cited domains for the exact questions that matter
Use the broad Top 100 as a discovery layer, then narrow to the relevant vertical and prompt cluster.
Separate broad publisher opportunities from specialist opportunities
A broad publisher can create repeated category exposure. A specialist publisher can create concentrated relevance for one high-value buying decision.
Include company-owned sources in the strategy
Google AI Overviews frequently cites first-party carrier and provider domains in this panel. Humana, Progressive, Delta Dental, UnitedHealthcare, Ethos, Lemonade, Aflac, Cigna and other company-owned domains appear materially in the source market.
This means AIO visibility strategy should not be reduced to digital PR alone. It also includes clear product pages, structured eligibility information, comparison content, pricing context, definitions and other first-party material that can be cited directly.
Measure before and after outreach
A brand should benchmark response-level source visibility before a major publishing or earned-media initiative and re-run the same prompt panel afterward.
Re-run the benchmark
Insurance source visibility is not permanent. Monthly persistence is meaningful at the aggregate level, but individual source sets can rotate.
Parent dataset
This article uses the frozen July-September 2026 LLM Authority Index research archive described in the flagship study. The parent archive contains source observations collected across six AI platform families and four high-stakes consumer research families.
Eligible platform and category
The analytical slice includes records whose platform family is Google AI Overviews and whose research-family membership includes Insurance.
Global exact-repeat handling
Before category filtering, eligible non-failed observations are deduplicated globally using the same analytical rule as the flagship study. An observation is treated as a repeated analytical record when all of the following match:
- same report month;
- same exact raw platform or source surface;
- same normalized prompt text; and
- same exact set of original citation URLs.
One analytical record is retained while preserving the originating source-vertical memberships associated with exact duplicates.
This is an anti-double-counting rule. It is not proof that the upstream system issued a prompt only once.
Prompt normalization
Prompt text is normalized using Unicode NFKC, case folding, whitespace collapse and trimming for the exact-repeat signature.
Domain normalization
Citation URLs are parsed to hostname, lowercased, stripped of a leading www., and consolidated to the registrable domain using the Public Suffix List.
Examples include:
money.usnews.comtousnews.com;finance.yahoo.comtoyahoo.com.
Public infrastructure exclusions
The same public infrastructure exclusion rules used in the parent study are applied here. No substantive publisher, carrier, broker, government or comparison domain is excluded simply because it is company-owned.
Primary ranking metric
The primary metric is Response Citation Coverage:
eligible Google AI Overviews insurance responses citing domain / all eligible Google AI Overviews insurance responses
A domain counts no more than once within a response.
Secondary metric
Raw visible citation events are retained as a secondary measure. If several URLs from the same domain appear in one response, they can contribute several citation events but only one response-level domain appearance.
Vertical membership
An exact-deduplicated record can retain more than one originating source vertical when identical observations appeared in overlapping exported datasets. Vertical-level tables preserve those source memberships rather than forcing one arbitrary assignment.
Monthly persistence
For each month, domains are ranked by response-level coverage within the Google AI Overviews insurance slice. Top 100 overlap is reported with Jaccard similarity:
shared Top 100 domains / unique domains across both Top 100 lists
Insurance-category lift
Insurance-category lift compares a domain's response coverage in this article with its response coverage across all four high-stakes families within Google AI Overviews:
AIO insurance response coverage / AIO all-family response coverage
This is a descriptive specialization measure. It is not a quality score, trust score, recommendation probability or causal effect.

Limitations
- The study covers three months. It does not establish long-term source persistence.
- The 12 source labels are not statistically independent industries. Some prompt overlap exists.
- July is unavailable for three source verticals: Long-Term Care Insurance, Renters Insurance and Vision Insurance. Missing historical data is not imputed.
- Vertical sample sizes differ materially. Small slices such as Long-Term Care Insurance should be interpreted more cautiously than large slices such as Travel Insurance.
- Visible citations are not hidden retrieval. The study measures sources surfaced as citations, not every source that may have influenced generation.
- Citation is not recommendation. A cited domain does not imply endorsement of a company or product.
- Domain aggregation can hide page-level turnover. Different URLs from the same domain can rotate over time.
- Google AI Overviews can vary by query, geography, account context and product changes. This is a measured panel, not every possible Google result.
- The source taxonomy is not a completed formal first-party/third-party classification. The article discusses clear examples but does not publish a blanket share by relationship type.
- External research uses different prompt populations and metrics. Percentages from Conductor, Temso, Tinuiti or other providers should not be substituted directly into this denominator.
Commercial Relationship Disclosure
LLM Authority Index is part of a business ecosystem that provides AI visibility, research and marketing services. Affiliated businesses may have current or historical commercial relationships with companies or publishers that appear in the dataset.
Commercial relationships are not inputs to the citation rankings. Domains are included based on observed citation data. No ranking should be interpreted as an endorsement, and no commercial relationship should be interpreted as evidence that it caused citation visibility.
