LLM Authority Index Research | Gemini | Credit, Debt, Banking and Lending | July-September 2026
Gemini uses a distinctly financial source ecosystem when consumers ask high-stakes questions about credit, debt, banking and lending.
Across 2,423 deduplicated Gemini responses covering 16 financial decision verticals, Bankrate ranked #1, appearing as a cited domain in 17.09% of eligible responses. Money.com ranked #2 at 10.85%, Experian #3 at 6.85%, Forbes #4 at 5.78%, and WalletHub #5 at 5.70%.
The category-specific ranking is materially different from Gemini's broader High-Stakes Consumer Decisions source market. Only 46 of the financial Top 100 domains also appear in Gemini's overall Top 100. Bankrate's response coverage is 2.63 times its Gemini-wide rate, while WalletHub's financial coverage is 2.91 times its Gemini-wide rate.
The financial source market is also substantially more concentrated than Gemini overall. The Top 10 financial domains account for 42.7% of domain-response appearances, compared with 23.9% for Gemini's Top 10 across all four high-stakes decision families.
This is a source-visibility ranking, not a trust score, quality grade, recommendation score, or causal ranking. A domain can be frequently cited without causing Gemini to recommend a specific company or financial product.
Answer Capsule
Which websites does Gemini cite most often when answering high-stakes credit, debt, banking and lending questions?

Questions This Study Answers
- Which websites dominate Gemini citations for high-stakes Credit, Debt, Banking and Lending decisions, and how does that source hierarchy change by vertical?
- How persistent is Gemini's financial source market over time, and how portable is that authority to other AI platforms?
- What should financial publishers, lenders, banks, credit brands and CMOs measure before allocating resources to Gemini-focused content, PR, partnerships or earned media?
Why This Research Belongs in Daily AI Search Marketing Decisions
This article sits at the intersection of two commercially useful views of the same source market:
- the Gemini platform view, which asks which sources recur across high-stakes consumer decisions on Gemini; and
- the Credit, Debt, Banking and Lending decision-family view, which asks which sources recur across six AI platform families for one commercial financial category.
For publishers and specialist financial sites, that intersection supports a more precise claim than saying a domain is simply "visible in Gemini." A source can document whether it is cited specifically for high-intent credit, debt, banking and lending decisions, whether that visibility persists over time, and whether its authority is broad across financial verticals or concentrated in one specialist decision journey.
For brands, lenders, banks, fintechs, CMOs, PR teams and agencies, the operating question is:
Which sources are already present around the exact financial decisions our customers ask Gemini to help them make?
Five findings matter for daily planning:
- the Top 100 account for 84.5% of domain-response appearances in this Gemini financial slice;
- the Top 10 alone account for 42.7% of domain-response appearances;
- only 46 domains overlap between this financial Top 100 and Gemini's broader High-Stakes Top 100;
- 56 domains remained in the monthly financial Top 100 in July, August and September, and the median of the three monthly Top 100 Jaccard comparisons was 49.3%; and
- the final category child-study Top 100 lists show Gemini sharing 70 domains with Google AI Overviews, 70 with Google AI Mode, 68 with Perplexity, 55 with ChatGPT and 36 with Microsoft Copilot.
The parent Credit, Debt, Banking and Lending Citation Authority Study provides the category-level Persistence-Portability Gap interpretation. It reports 77.0% temporal persistence, 44.9% cross-platform portability, and an approximate 32.1 percentage-point Persistence-Portability Gap for the category.
This article answers a narrower Gemini-specific question. Its 49.3% median monthly Top 100 persistence should not be subtracted from one pairwise platform overlap to create a Gemini-specific gap. The parent PPG uses category-level summary statistics across the broader family.
The concentration result also should not be confused with stability. Gemini's financial source market is concentrated, but its monthly membership still rotated materially. Concentration, persistence and portability are distinct measurements.
Citation visibility should also remain separate from brand mentions, recommendation rate, ranking, sentiment, citation-recommendation coupling and downstream outcomes. A source can be frequently cited without causing Gemini to recommend a particular lender, bank, card issuer or financial company.
Commercial Action Matrix: What Publishers and CMOs Can Do With the Findings
| Research finding | What financial publishers can responsibly say | What brands and CMOs can reasonably do |
|---|---|---|
| Bankrate, Money.com, Experian, Forbes and WalletHub lead this Gemini financial source map | "Our domain can be benchmarked against the sources most frequently cited by Gemini for this defined financial decision set." | Use the category leaders as a research tier, then test fit for the exact product and prompt cluster. |
| The Top 100 account for 84.5% of domain-response appearances | "Gemini's measured financial source market is highly concentrated." | Prioritize the recurring source core before expanding into specialists and the long tail. |
| Only 46 domains overlap with broad Gemini's Top 100 | "Category-specific authority can be commercially important without broad platform-wide rank." | Use Credit, Debt, Banking and Lending source maps instead of generic Gemini leaderboards. |
| 56 domains remained in the Top 100 across all three months and median monthly Jaccard was 49.3% | "A three-month aggregate should not be described as fixed or permanent." | Refresh source-priority lists on a fixed cadence and track gains, losses and rank movement. |
| Gemini shares 70 category Top 100 domains with each Google AI surface but only 36 with Copilot | "Source portability differs materially by platform pair." | Maintain a shared cross-platform core plus Gemini-specific and engine-specific priorities. |
| The parent category reports a 32.1-point exploratory Persistence-Portability Gap | "The broader category source portfolio is more stable over time than fully transferable across engines." | Separate the time question from the platform question when allocating content, PR and partnership resources. |
| Bankrate and Money.com held the top two monthly positions throughout the period | "Some category leaders show stronger persistence than the surrounding source market." | Separate durable core sources from the rotating monthly perimeter. |
| Vertical leaders differ materially across credit cards, credit repair, personal loans, savings, student loans and other products | "Measured Gemini authority can be product-specific rather than category-wide." | Build outreach and content strategy at the exact financial product and prompt-cluster level. |
| Citation visibility does not establish recommendation causality | "Our content is measurably present in the visible source layer." | Measure citations, mentions, recommendations, rank, sentiment and business outcomes separately. |
The daily operating model is therefore four-layered:
- Current Gemini financial core: maintain the sources that matter now, with the collection date attached.
- Vertical and prompt-cluster layer: identify which sources dominate the exact credit repair, credit card, banking, student loan, personal loan or debt decision.
- Longitudinal check: monitor whether priority sources persist, decline, rotate or change rank.
- Cross-platform check: determine whether the same sources also matter in Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode, ChatGPT, Perplexity and Microsoft Copilot.

The primary ranking metric is Response Citation Coverage: the percentage of eligible Gemini responses that cited a domain at least once. A domain counts no more than once within a response for the primary metric, even when Gemini cites multiple pages from that domain.
This section answers the following questions
- What is the denominator behind the Gemini financial rankings?
- Which 16 verticals are represented?
- What does Response Citation Coverage measure, and why are citation-event counts reported separately?

Bankrate's lead is substantial. It appears in 17.09% of eligible Gemini financial responses, roughly six percentage points above Money.com and more than ten percentage points above Experian.
The top tier is heavily financial. Bankrate, Money.com, Experian, WalletHub, LendingTree, Credit Karma, Credible, SoFi, and Navy Federal all rank in the Top 10. Forbes is the only general business publisher in that group.
Reddit, which is among the leaders in broad Gemini citation research, ranks #25 in this specific financial panel at 1.24% response coverage. That gap is one of the clearest examples of why all-topic Gemini rankings should not be treated as universal financial source rankings.
This section answers the following questions
- Who leads Gemini citations for financial consumer decisions?
- Are the leading sources general publishers or finance-specific sources?
- Does Reddit dominate Gemini citations when the query set is restricted to financial decisions?

The full list shows both a concentrated head and a meaningful specialist tail. The leading financial publishers recur across many verticals, while the lower half of the Top 100 includes banks, government sources, credit specialists, student loan sources, and product-specific publishers.

Citation Concentration
Gemini's financial citation market is considerably more concentrated than Gemini's overall high-stakes citation market.
| Ranking depth | Financial share of domain-response appearances | Financial share of citation events | Gemini overall share of domain-response appearances |
|---|---|---|---|
| Top 10 | 42.7% | 43.3% | 23.9% |
| Top 25 | 58.2% | 58.6% | 33.6% |
| Top 50 | 72.2% | 72.7% | 42.6% |
| Top 100 | 84.5% | 84.8% | 54.1% |
The commercial implication is straightforward. A relatively small group of sources accounts for a large share of observed Gemini financial citation visibility, but a brand still needs vertical specialists after the leading tier because source leadership changes sharply between product categories.
This section answers the following questions
- Is Gemini's financial source market more concentrated than Gemini overall?
- How much of observed citation visibility is captured by the Top 10, Top 25, Top 50, and Top 100?
- Can a financial brand focus only on the biggest publishers?
Financial Specialization Versus Gemini Overall
Only 46 domains in this financial Top 100 also appear in Gemini's overall Top 100 across all high-stakes decision families.
That means more than half of the financial Top 100 would be missed by a strategy based only on Gemini's broad leaderboard.
The table below compares the leading financial domains with their Gemini-wide coverage.
| Domain | Gemini financial coverage | Gemini overall coverage | Financial vs. Gemini overall lift |
|---|---|---|---|
| bankrate.com | 17.09% | 6.49% | 2.63x |
| money.com | 10.85% | 9.31% | 1.17x |
| experian.com | 6.85% | 2.68% | 2.56x |
| forbes.com | 5.78% | 6.43% | 0.90x |
| wallethub.com | 5.70% | 1.96% | 2.91x |
| lendingtree.com | 5.24% | 2.63% | 2.00x |
| creditkarma.com | 4.09% | 1.75% | 2.33x |
| credible.com | 3.14% | 1.18% | 2.67x |
| sofi.com | 2.85% | 1.07% | 2.66x |
| navyfederal.org | 1.98% | 0.77% | 2.57x |
| cbsnews.com | 1.86% | 0.80% | 2.33x |
| greenfi.com | 1.86% | 0.59% | 3.16x |
| youtube.com | 1.82% | 1.23% | 1.48x |
| capitalone.com | 1.82% | 0.57% | 3.16x |
| themortgagereports.com | 1.73% | 0.99% | 1.75x |
Several financial sources become much more important when the denominator is restricted to credit, debt, banking and lending. Bankrate rises to 2.63x its Gemini-wide response coverage. WalletHub rises to 2.91x. Credible is 2.67x, SoFi 2.66x, and Navy Federal 2.57x.
Forbes moves in the opposite direction. Its financial coverage is 5.78%, below its 6.43% Gemini-wide coverage. That does not make Forbes unimportant. It means Forbes has broad cross-category authority while several specialist financial sources gain more from the category filter.
This section answers the following questions
- Which sources are disproportionately important inside financial decisions?
- Which high-ranking Gemini domains are broad authorities versus financial specialists?
- How much information is lost when marketers use only Gemini's overall Top 100?

The Most-Cited Sources by Individual Financial Vertical
The category-wide ranking should not be treated as the answer for every financial product. The leading sources change materially by vertical.

| Money Market Accounts | 278 | bankrate.com 37.4%; forbes.com 9.4%; greenfi.com 9.4%; marcus.com 9.4%; sofi.com 9.4% |
| Personal Loans and Online Lenders | 219 | experian.com 21.9%; bankrate.com 14.6%; money.com 14.6%; wallethub.com 10.5%; lendingtree.com 7.8% |

| Student Loan Refinance | 103 | money.com 18.4%; bankrate.com 14.6%; credible.com 10.7%; forbes.com 10.7%; cbsnews.com 8.7% |
| Student Loans | 207 | money.com 16.4%; credible.com 12.6%; bankrate.com 12.1%; cbsnews.com 10.6%; forbes.com 9.2% |
| Tax Relief | 14 | bajajfinserv.in 7.1%; crosslawgroup.com 7.1%; goldenappleagencyinc.com 7.1%; hl.com 7.1%; nc.gov 7.1% |
Several patterns stand out:
- Money.com leads Auto Refinance Loans, Credit Monitoring, Credit Repair, Student Loan Refinance, and Student Loans in this Gemini slice.
- Bankrate leads Best Banks, Certificates of Deposits, Credit Cards for Building Credit, Home Equity Loans, Money Market Accounts, and Savings Account.
- WalletHub leads Credit Cards.
- LendingTree leads Bad Credit Loans.
- Experian leads Personal Loans and Online Lenders.
- Tax Relief and Debt Relief & Consolidation have very small Gemini samples here and should be interpreted cautiously.
Some verticals also surface adjacent or surprising sources because the originating datasets can contain shared or neighboring prompts. These tables are descriptive source views, not claims that every row represents a statistically independent industry.
This section answers the following questions
- Which publishers lead specific financial product categories in Gemini?
- Should a credit card company use the same publisher list as a savings account, student loan, or credit repair company?
- Which verticals have sample sizes too small for strong standalone conclusions?

Breadth Versus Specialization
A category leader can earn its position through breadth, depth, or both.
Bankrate appears across 14 of 16 financial verticals and ranks #1 overall. Money.com appears across 15 of 16. Experian appears across 14, Forbes across 13, WalletHub across 12, and Credit Karma across 12.
Other domains are narrower but unusually strong in one vertical. Aura and Security.org are concentrated in Credit Monitoring. The Mortgage Reports is especially visible in Home Equity Loans. This matters for commercial planning because broad publisher authority and vertical specialization solve different problems.
For a multi-product bank or financial publisher, breadth can support a portfolio-wide visibility strategy. For a single-product lender or fintech, the specialist sources in the exact vertical can be more actionable than the category-wide ranking.
Monthly Persistence and Citation Drift
The Gemini financial Top 100 changed across the three-month window, but the leading tier was comparatively stable.
| Monthly Top 100 comparison | Shared domains | Jaccard similarity |
|---|---|---|
| July vs. August | 66 | 49.3% |
| July vs. September | 63 | 46.0% |
| August vs. September | 77 | 62.6% |
56 domains appeared in the financial Top 100 in all three months. The median of the three monthly Top 100 Jaccard comparisons was 49.3%.
Bankrate ranked #1 in July, August, and September. Money.com ranked #2 in all three months. Experian ranked #3, #4, and #3. Forbes remained inside the Top 6, while WalletHub moved from #6 to #5 to #4.
The stability at the top should not be confused with prompt-level stability. A publisher can maintain a strong aggregate rank while the exact sources attached to individual prompts turn over. The separate LLM Authority Index citation-drift study addresses that same-prompt behavior directly.
This section answers the following questions
- Did Gemini's financial source market reset each month?
- Which publishers showed persistent leadership?
- Can a stable aggregate rank coexist with citation drift at the prompt level?

Platform Differences: Gemini's Financial Source Market Is Not Interchangeable With Other AI Engines
The final Credit, Debt, Banking and Lending child-study Top 100 lists show meaningful cross-platform overlap, but no other measured engine uses the same source portfolio.
| Comparison | Shared Top 100 Domains | Jaccard Similarity |
|---|---|---|
| Gemini financial vs. Google AI Overviews financial | 70 | 53.8% |
| Gemini financial vs. Google AI Mode financial | 70 | 53.8% |
| Gemini financial vs. Perplexity financial | 68 | 51.5% |
| Gemini financial vs. ChatGPT financial | 55 | 37.9% |
| Gemini financial vs. Microsoft Copilot financial | 36 | 22.0% |
Gemini is closest to the two Google AI search surfaces and Perplexity in this category. Its overlap with ChatGPT is much lower, and Copilot is farther away again.
The ranking order also differs materially. Gemini's leading five are Bankrate, Money.com, Experian, Forbes and WalletHub. Other engines elevate different combinations of NerdWallet, CNBC, Reddit, The Wall Street Journal, LendingTree and U.S. News.
That difference is commercially important. A source strategy optimized for Perplexity, ChatGPT or a Google AI surface is not automatically a Gemini source strategy.
The operating implication is to maintain three layers: a cross-platform financial core, a Gemini-specific source layer, and a vertical-specific specialist layer.
This section answers the following questions
- Do the same publishers lead every AI platform for financial decisions?
- Which engines share the most Gemini financial sources?
- Should a financial brand use one universal outreach list for all AI platforms?
How This Compares With Other Gemini Citation Research
Ahrefs: broad U.S. all-topic Gemini queries
Ahrefs' September 2026 Gemini citation study uses a broad U.S. all-topic query population and ranks leading sources by mention share. Reddit leads at 28.5%, followed by YouTube at 14.6%, Wikipedia at 8.8%, and Walmart at 2.8%. Ahrefs: The 50 Most-Cited Websites in Gemini
That is very different from this financial decision panel, where Bankrate, Money.com, Experian, Forbes and WalletHub lead by response citation coverage.
The difference is not a contradiction. The prompt population, category mix, ranking metric, denominator and time-window definitions differ.
Wellows: same-question source overlap remains low
Wellows analyzed 22.7 million citations across more than 1.1 million questions from January through June 2026. It found that 63.7% of Gemini-cited sources were unique to Gemini for the same question. Its pairwise same-question website overlap was 12.0% between Gemini and Google AI Overviews, 10.9% with Google AI Mode, 7.4% with Perplexity and 6.1% with ChatGPT. Wellows AI Citation Overlap Study
Those percentages should not be compared directly with Article 32's Top 100 Jaccard values. Wellows compares sources question by question, while Article 32 compares aggregated category Top 100 domain sets. The agreement is conceptual: source portability depends on the engine pair and the unit of analysis.
Tinuiti: commercial category and platform differences
Tinuiti's Q3 2026 AI Citation Trends Report tracks ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Mode, Google AI Overviews, Gemini and Microsoft Copilot across multiple commercial categories. Its current public summary emphasizes that citation behavior continues to differ by platform and category, and that most tracked platforms were at or near Q3 highs in social citation share, with Perplexity a notable exception. Tinuiti Q3 2026 AI Citation Trends Report
That supports the need to measure Gemini separately and to define the commercial query population before interpreting a citation ranking.
Machine Relations: the denominator changes the answer
Machine Relations' September 14, 2026 methods note argues that an overall AI citation leaderboard cannot identify the best source for a specific buying problem unless the denominator matches the buying problem. Its release covered 15,396 observed answer runs, 121,750 citation events and 21,781 observed domains across six answer-engine surfaces. Machine Relations: Overall Leaderboard and Category Denominators
Studies can disagree because of:
- query selection
- commercial intent
- geography
- time window
- ranking metric
- citation-event versus response-level counting
- source-type classification
- technical-asset exclusions
- domain normalization
- platform mode and UI behavior
The relevant question is not which ranking is universally correct. It is which ranking matches the decision environment a publisher or brand actually cares about.

How This Study Is Different
This study is not differentiated simply because it publishes a Gemini source list.
Its distinguishing features are the measurement population and the commercial framing:
- it isolates high-stakes credit, debt, banking and lending decisions rather than all Gemini queries;
- it uses a three-month July-September 2026 corpus rather than a single snapshot;
- it ranks domains by response citation coverage, so repeated URLs from one domain inside one answer cannot dominate the primary metric;
- it publishes a full Top 100 rather than only a short list of winners;
- it enumerates all 16 financial verticals represented in the source data;
- it measures category specialization against Gemini overall;
- it includes monthly persistence, citation concentration, and vertical-level leaders;
- it explicitly separates citation visibility from company recommendation causality.
The result is intended to function as a source map for publishers, brands, agencies, editorial teams, and revenue teams working on financial AI visibility.
Why AI Citation Studies Can Disagree
Two well-executed Gemini citation studies can report very different source rankings without either being wrong.
Important methodological differences include:
- Prompt population. All-topic prompts, informational health prompts, ecommerce prompts, and high-stakes financial buying prompts can produce different source ecosystems.
- Platform surface. Gemini app responses should not automatically be combined with Google AI Overviews or Google AI Mode.
- Dates. AI retrieval and source-selection behavior changes. A September snapshot can differ from a July-September pooled study.
- Metric. Citation-event share, response coverage, mention share, source-event share, and page-level counts are not interchangeable.
- Domain normalization. Subdomains can be reported separately or consolidated to registrable domains.
- Infrastructure handling. Account activity, thumbnails, map wrappers, image hosts, and other technical endpoints can inflate counts if they are treated as editorial sources.
- Duplicate handling. Shared prompts and overlapping exports can create double counting if repeated records are not handled explicitly.
- Vertical weighting. A pooled category can be dominated by larger verticals unless weighting rules are stated.
- Missing months and failures. Missing data should not be converted into zero observations, and explicit extraction failures should not be counted as ordinary zero-citation answers.
- Denominator choice. A broad Gemini leaderboard answers a different question from a category-specific financial leaderboard.
For marketers, the safest rule is to compare studies only after checking the query population, platform surface, date window, citation definition, normalization method, and denominator.

What This Means for Financial Publishers
Independent citation measurement can become commercially useful when publishers preserve the denominator and study period.
A publisher can responsibly use this research to document:
- measured Gemini response coverage in high-stakes financial decisions;
- breadth across multiple financial verticals;
- persistence across July, August, and September;
- category specialization relative to Gemini overall;
- vertical-specific strength inside categories relevant to advertisers.
For example, a publisher appearing across many of the 16 financial verticals can document breadth. A specialist publisher can document strength in one product category even when its category-wide rank is lower.
The research should not be converted into a claim that advertising with, being mentioned by, or earning coverage from a cited publisher guarantees Gemini recommendations. Citation visibility and recommendation visibility are separate measurements.
What This Means for CMOs and Financial Brands
A practical Gemini source strategy should work from the exact consumer decision backward.
For a financial brand, the process is:
- identify the prompt clusters that matter commercially;
- measure the sources Gemini cites for those prompts;
- distinguish category-wide authorities from vertical specialists;
- compare those sources with other AI platforms rather than assuming transferability;
- identify content, digital PR, data, expert commentary, partnerships, and first-party resources that genuinely fit the source ecosystem;
- measure citations, brand mentions, recommendation frequency, and business outcomes separately over time.
A financial CMO should not treat the Top 100 as a shopping list for paid placements. It is a map of observed source visibility. The strategic question is why particular sources repeatedly satisfy Gemini's information needs for a given class of decision and whether the brand can earn legitimate relevance within those information environments.
Methodology
Research source
This study uses the frozen July-September 2026 LLM Authority Index High-Stakes Consumer Decisions archive used by the broader 2026 AI Citation Authority Study.
Platform filter
Only observations assigned to the Gemini platform family are included.
Gemini remains separate from Google AI Overviews and Google AI Mode. Those Google surfaces are analyzed independently elsewhere in the research series.
Category assignment
Observations are included when their preserved source memberships belong to the Credit, Debt, Banking and Lending family.
The 16 source verticals are listed in the What We Studied section. Source verticals are dataset labels, not claims that every prompt belongs exclusively to one statistically independent industry.
Exact file deduplication
Byte-identical source files were deduplicated by SHA-256 before observation processing.
Analytical anti-double-counting
Observations were treated as exact repeats when they shared the same:
- report month;
- exact raw platform/source surface;
- normalized prompt text; and
- exact set of original citation URLs.
One analytical record was retained while preserving originating vertical memberships.
Prompt normalization
Prompt matching uses Unicode NFKC normalization, case folding, whitespace collapse, and trimming. Prompt wording is otherwise preserved.
Explicit extraction failures
Observations explicitly marked as extraction failures were excluded from eligible response denominators rather than counted as ordinary zero-citation responses.
Domain normalization
Citation URLs were parsed to hostnames, normalized to lowercase, stripped of leading www., and consolidated to registrable domains. Subdomains such as money.usnews.com are reported under usnews.com for domain-level rankings.
Infrastructure exclusions
Obvious non-editorial technical surfaces were excluded from the public ranking. In this Gemini financial slice, 98 citation entries pointing to myactivity.google.com were removed because the destination is a Google account-activity surface rather than a publisher or substantive source page.
Substantive Google-owned content is not automatically excluded solely because Google owns it.
Primary metric
Response Citation Coverage = eligible Gemini financial responses citing domain d at least once / all eligible Gemini financial responses.
The denominator for this article is 2,423 responses.
A domain counts no more than once per response for this metric.
Secondary metric
Citation events are retained as a secondary metric. A response can contain multiple citation events from the same domain even though the domain counts once for response coverage.
Monthly ranks
July, August, and September Top 100 lists are calculated independently from eligible responses in each month.
Vertical views
A deduplicated response can retain more than one originating source membership when overlapping exports contain the same exact observation. Vertical tables therefore describe preserved source memberships and are not assumed to be statistically independent.
Jaccard overlap
Monthly Top 100 Jaccard similarity is calculated as:
shared Top 100 domains / unique domains across the two Top 100 lists
No causal interpretation
A visible citation establishes an observed source relationship. It does not prove that the citation caused Gemini to mention, rank, recommend, or convert a consumer for any company.

Limitations
- This is a defined high-stakes financial prompt corpus, not every Gemini query about finance.
- The 16 vertical labels are not statistically independent. Some prompt banks overlap or contain adjacent questions.
- Sample sizes differ materially by vertical. Tax Relief contains only 14 eligible Gemini responses and Debt Relief & Consolidation 19 in this slice, so their vertical leaderboards are descriptive and unstable.
- Several verticals have missing months in the wider archive. Missing periods are not converted into zeros.
- Visible citations are not hidden retrieval or training data. A source can influence a response without appearing as a visible citation.
- Citation presence is not recommendation causality. A domain can be cited without a company discussed on that domain being recommended.
- Registrable-domain aggregation hides page-level differences. Different sections and URLs on one domain can serve different intents.
- The study window covers July through September 2026. Gemini source behavior can change after the endpoint.
- The platform's citation interface can change. Extraction and presentation behavior may not remain constant indefinitely.
- Source type is not a ranking input here. First-party financial brands, publishers, government sites, nonprofits, communities, and other sources are ranked together by observed citation visibility.
- Cross-study percentages should not be compared without checking denominators and metrics. LLMAI response coverage is not the same metric as mention share or raw citation share used elsewhere.
- The study is observational. It measures what was cited, not why Gemini selected a source.
Commercial Disclosure
LLM Authority Index is part of a business ecosystem that provides AI visibility, research, and marketing services. Affiliated businesses may have current or historical commercial relationships with companies or publishers that appear in the dataset.
Commercial relationships are not inputs to the ranking methodology. Domains are included based on observed citation data. No ranking is an endorsement, and no commercial relationship is presented as the cause of a citation or recommendation outcome.
