Reddit's visible role as an AI citation source declined sharply across high-stakes health and medical consumer questions between July and September 2026.
Across the balanced Health and Medical panel, Reddit accounted for 2.13% of citation events in July and 0.99% in September, a 53.5% relative decline. Response citation coverage fell from approximately 6.91% to 3.63%, down about 47.5%.
The decline was broad wherever Reddit had measurable July visibility. Thirteen health and medical verticals had both July and September datasets. Ten of those had a non-zero Reddit citation-event share in July, and all 10 were lower in September. The median decline among those ten verticals was 44.5%.
A stricter matched-prompt test points in the same direction. Across 1,336 exact July-to-September prompt-and-platform scenarios in this family, there were 85 cases where Reddit appeared in July but not September, compared with 32 gains. That is 2.66 Reddit losses for every gain. Matched Reddit response coverage fell from 9.58% to 5.61%, down 41.4%.
The largest platform break occurred in ChatGPT. In the matched Health and Medical slice, ChatGPT produced 30 Reddit losses and no gains. Perplexity also produced losses with no gains, although on a much smaller base. Google's two AI search surfaces moved in the same negative direction but retained substantially more Reddit continuity.
These findings do not show that Reddit stopped affecting health-related AI answers, that Reddit stopped being useful to patients or caregivers, or that a single publisher replaced Reddit. They show a measurable decline in visible Reddit citation activity within a defined set of high-stakes health and medical consumer decisions.
Answer Capsule
How much did Reddit citation visibility decline in AI answers about high-stakes health and medical consumer decisions from July to September 2026?
Reddit's citation-event share fell from 2.13% to 0.99%, a 53.5% relative decline, the steepest aggregate decline among the four High-Stakes Consumer Decision families in this research series. Response citation coverage fell from approximately 6.91% to 3.63%. All ten health and medical verticals with measurable July Reddit citation share were lower by September. In the strict matched set, Reddit losses outnumbered gains 85 to 32. The decline was especially asymmetric in ChatGPT, where the matched health panel recorded 30 losses and zero gains.

Questions This Study Answers
- How much did Reddit citation visibility decline in high-stakes Health and Medical decisions from July to September 2026?
- Did the decline persist when the same prompt and platform were compared, and how differently did the six AI platform families behave?
- What should healthcare publishers, providers, health-tech brands and CMOs change in response to Reddit's source-level volatility?
Why This Research Belongs in Daily AI Search Marketing Decisions
Health and medical decisions are unusually sensitive source environments. Consumers may be comparing therapy platforms, hearing aids, medical alert systems, fertility clinics, online doctors, pharmacies, addiction treatment or weight-loss services while balancing cost, access, safety, qualifications, personal experience and clinical considerations.
Reddit can matter in that environment because community discussions often contain firsthand experience that institutional pages do not. That does not make Reddit a clinical authority. Community experience and medical evidence serve different roles.
The commercial question is narrower: how often is Reddit visibly cited alongside AI-generated answers for these decisions, and how stable is that visibility?
Across the balanced Health and Medical panel:
- Reddit citation-event share fell from 2.13% to 0.99%, a 53.5% relative decline;
- Reddit response citation coverage fell from approximately 6.91% to 3.63%, down about 47.5%;
- all 10 of 10 verticals with measurable July Reddit citation-event share declined by September; and
- the strict matched prompt-platform analysis produced 85 Reddit losses versus 32 gains, or 2.66 losses for every gain.
Health and Medical had the steepest aggregate Reddit citation-event decline of the four high-stakes decision families in this research series.
The matched platform results show why the family average is not enough:
- ChatGPT matched Reddit coverage fell from 34.83% to 1.12%, down 96.8%, with 30 losses and zero gains;
- Perplexity fell from 3.26% to 0.00% on a much smaller matched base, with 3 losses and zero gains;
- Google AI Overviews fell from 8.94% to 7.12%, down 20.4%;
- Google AI Mode fell from 12.20% to 9.76%, down 20.0%;
- Gemini fell from 3.47% to 2.08%, down 40.0%; and
- Microsoft Copilot had no captured Reddit citations at either matched endpoint in this family slice.
Those differences belong inside the broader Persistence-Portability Gap framework.
The parent Health and Medical Citation Authority Study reports:
- 61.3% median monthly Top 100 persistence;
- 25.8% median cross-platform Top 100 portability; and
- an approximate 35.5 percentage-point Persistence-Portability Gap.
This Article adds a source-specific lesson: a relatively persistent category source portfolio can still contain severe source-level volatility. Reddit weakened materially even while the broader Health and Medical citation ecosystem retained substantial month-to-month continuity.
For daily AI-search work, healthcare teams should therefore measure at least three questions separately:
- Is the Health and Medical source portfolio persistent over time?
- Does source authority transfer across AI platforms?
- Is a specific source such as Reddit gaining, losing or holding visibility inside that portfolio?
Citation visibility should also remain separate from brand mentions, recommendation rate, ranking, sentiment, citation-recommendation coupling and downstream outcomes. In health and medical categories, citation presence should additionally remain separate from clinical quality, medical accuracy and endorsement.
Commercial Action Matrix: What Publishers and CMOs Can Do With the Findings
| Research finding | What health publishers can responsibly say | What healthcare brands and CMOs can reasonably do |
|---|---|---|
| Reddit citation-event share fell 53.5% on the balanced Health panel | "Historical prominence for a major community source can change materially inside a high-stakes health decision market." | Re-check strategies that assume Reddit's earlier direct-citation role is still representative. |
| Matched scenarios produced 85 Reddit losses and 32 gains | "The decline survives a same-prompt, same-platform longitudinal test." | Maintain fixed prompt panels for priority health decisions and track source gains, losses and persistence over time. |
| All 10 measurable July verticals declined | "The measured decline was broad across the Health and Medical family rather than isolated to one niche." | Treat the result as a family-level signal, then inspect the exact health product, provider or service cluster before reallocating budget. |
| ChatGPT matched coverage fell 96.8%, while Google AIO and AI Mode fell about 20% | "Reddit citation visibility was strongly platform-specific during this period." | Maintain platform-specific source maps instead of one blended AI visibility score. |
| No single publisher consistently replaced Reddit | "The source market redistributed across multiple publishers and source types." | Build a portfolio of specialist publishers, institutional sources, expert content, video, community evidence and first-party authority rather than trying to replace Reddit with one outlet. |
| The parent Health category has 61.3% temporal persistence while Reddit itself declined sharply | "A persistent category source ecosystem can still contain major source-level volatility." | Track category persistence and individual source trajectories as separate operating metrics. |
| The parent Health category has only 25.8% median cross-platform portability | "Health citation authority is highly platform-specific." | Preserve a shared cross-platform core, then maintain separate Google, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Copilot source priorities. |
| Broad all-topic studies still rank Reddit highly on several engines | "Citation prominence depends on query universe, platform, metric and time period." | Do not import a broad Reddit leaderboard into a healthcare campaign without Health-specific validation. |
| Citation visibility is not clinical authority or recommendation causality | "This study measures visible source behavior, not medical quality or endorsement." | Measure citations, mentions, recommendations, rank, sentiment and business outcomes separately, and keep clinical-evidence review as a separate quality process. |
The operating model is straightforward: identify the sources that matter for the exact health decision, measure them by platform, keep a fixed longitudinal prompt panel, and update the source portfolio when the evidence changes.

How This Study Fits the High-Stakes Consumer Decisions Research Corpus
This Article is the Health and Medical branch of the broader Reddit trend research.
It should be read with:
- the 2026 AI Citation Authority Study, which establishes the overall high-stakes source market;
- Reddit's Decline in AI Citations Across High-Stakes Consumer Decisions, which provides the cross-category parent trend;
- the Health and Medical Citation Authority Study, which provides the category-level source market and Persistence-Portability context;
- the Persistence-Portability Gap, which separates temporal durability from cross-platform transferability;
- Do AI Platforms Cite the Same Websites?, which provides the overall portability framework; and
- How Stable Are AI Citations?, which provides the broader same-prompt citation-drift framework.
The six platform-specific Reddit studies, Articles 52, 53, 54, 64, 65 and 66, isolate how this Health and Medical trend behaved in Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Microsoft Copilot.
What We Studied
This article analyzes the Health and Medical family of the LLM Authority Index High-Stakes Consumer Decisions corpus. The family includes:
- Addiction Treatment Centers
- Assisted Living Facilities
- Dental Implants
- Fertility Clinics
- Hearing Aids
- Home Health Care
- IVF Clinics
- Medical Alert Systems
- Mental Health Treatment Centers
- Online Doctors
- Online Pharmacies
- Online Therapy
- STD Tests
- Weight Loss and Metabolic Health
Medical Alert Systems did not have a July dataset in the frozen corpus, so it is not part of the July-to-September balanced endpoint. The remaining 13 verticals had observations at both endpoints. Three of those 13 had zero measurable Reddit citation-event share in July, so relative-decline percentages are not meaningful for those zero baselines.
The analysis spans six AI surfaces:
- ChatGPT
- Gemini
- Perplexity
- Microsoft Copilot
- Google AI Overviews
- Google AI Mode
The primary metric is Reddit citation-event share: Reddit citation events divided by all citation events in the relevant slice. The secondary metric is Reddit response citation coverage: the percentage of eligible AI responses that cited Reddit at least once.

Reddit Citation Share Fell More Than Half
Across the balanced Health and Medical family, Reddit's citation-event share fell from 2.13% in July to 0.99% in September. That is a 53.5% relative decline.
Response citation coverage moved in the same direction, falling from approximately 6.91% of responses to 3.63%, a decline of about 47.5%.
This difference between event share and response coverage is useful. Citation-event share is sensitive to how many total citations each response contains. Response coverage asks a simpler question: did a response cite Reddit at least once? Both fell materially, so the pattern is not explained only by AI answers becoming longer or citing more total sources.
Balanced endpoint summary
| Metric | July 2026 | September 2026 | Relative change |
|---|---|---|---|
| Reddit citation-event share | 2.13% | 0.99% | -53.5% |
| Reddit response citation coverage | 6.91% | 3.63% | -47.5% |
| Comparable Health and Medical verticals | 13 | 13 | n/a |
| Verticals with measurable July Reddit event share | 10 | 10 | n/a |
The most defensible interpretation is a reduction in visible Reddit citation activity inside this health-focused prompt universe. The data does not establish why a platform changed its source mix, and it does not establish that Reddit content stopped being retrieved, read, summarized or otherwise influencing an answer when a Reddit URL was not shown.
Questions this section answers:
- How large was the aggregate decline in Health and Medical?
- Did response-level coverage confirm the event-share trend?
Every Health Vertical With Measurable July Reddit Share Declined
The decline was broad. Every one of the ten verticals with a measurable July Reddit citation-event share was lower in September.
| Vertical | July responses | September responses | July Reddit event share | September Reddit event share | Relative change | July Reddit response coverage | September Reddit response coverage |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Addiction Treatment Centers | 62 | 118 | 0.00% | 0.22% | n/a | 0.00% | 0.85% |
| Assisted Living Facilities | 149 | 156 | 0.00% | 0.28% | n/a | 0.00% | 0.64% |
| Dental Implants | 391 | 411 | 0.65% | 0.42% | -36.0% | 4.35% | 2.92% |
| Fertility Clinics | 242 | 332 | 2.35% | 1.31% | -44.4% | 4.96% | 3.31% |
| Hearing Aids | 567 | 517 | 2.10% | 1.18% | -43.9% | 8.29% | 4.45% |
| Home Health Care | 251 | 328 | 1.56% | 1.06% | -32.2% | 3.19% | 2.13% |
| IVF Clinics | 243 | 331 | 2.19% | 1.22% | -44.5% | 4.94% | 3.32% |
| Mental Health Treatment Centers | 175 | 210 | 0.00% | 0.00% | n/a | 0.00% | 0.00% |
| Online Doctors | 574 | 595 | 2.38% | 1.10% | -53.7% | 7.49% | 4.37% |
| Online Pharmacies | 641 | 642 | 2.28% | 0.54% | -76.1% | 7.33% | 2.34% |
| Online Therapy | 510 | 584 | 4.30% | 2.22% | -48.4% | 15.49% | 8.39% |
| STD Tests | 293 | 314 | 1.45% | 0.31% | -78.3% | 4.78% | 1.27% |
| Weight Loss and Metabolic Health | 170 | 286 | 2.63% | 1.56% | -40.6% | 9.41% | 5.24% |
The steepest measured declines were:
- STD Tests: -78.3%
- Online Pharmacies: -76.1%
- Online Doctors: -53.7%
- Online Therapy: -48.4%
- IVF Clinics: -44.5%
- Fertility Clinics: -44.4%
- Hearing Aids: -43.9%
- Weight Loss and Metabolic Health: -40.6%
- Dental Implants: -36.0%
- Home Health Care: -32.2%
Addiction Treatment Centers and Assisted Living Facilities had zero Reddit citation-event share in July and small non-zero values in September. Mental Health Treatment Centers measured zero at both endpoints. Those cases are not evidence against the broader decline because a relative decline cannot be calculated from a zero July baseline.
Medical Alert Systems is excluded from the balanced endpoint because no July dataset exists for that vertical in the frozen corpus.
This matters methodologically. A broad family trend should not be created by pretending a September-only vertical had a July zero. Missing observations and measured zeros are different things.
Questions this section answers:
- Which health verticals declined the most?
- Were any measurable July verticals higher by September?
- How are zero baselines and missing July datasets handled?

The Strict Matched-Prompt Test Confirms the Direction
Aggregate monthly panels can change because prompt inventories change. To reduce that risk, we ran a stricter July-to-September comparison that required the same normalized prompt and platform to be present at both endpoints.
The matched Health and Medical set contained 1,336 prompt-platform scenarios.
| Matched outcome | Scenarios | Share of matched scenarios |
|---|---|---|
| Reddit cited in July and September | 43 | 3.22% |
| Reddit cited in July but not September | 85 | 6.36% |
| Reddit absent in July but cited in September | 32 | 2.40% |
| Reddit absent at both endpoints | 1,176 | 88.02% |
| Total | 1,336 | 100.00% |
Reddit losses outnumbered gains 85 to 32, or 2.66 losses for every gain.
Matched Reddit coverage fell from 9.58% in July to 5.61% in September, a 41.4% relative decline.
The matched decline is smaller than the aggregate citation-event decline, but the direction is the same. That is important because the matched test holds the prompt-platform scenario constant. It therefore provides a stronger check against the possibility that the headline result is only a changing prompt-mix artifact.
The Decline Was Strongly Platform-Specific
The matched panel shows that platform behavior matters as much as category behavior.
| Platform | Matched scenarios | Reddit losses | Reddit gains | Loss-to-gain ratio | July matched coverage | September matched coverage | Relative change |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| ChatGPT | 89 | 30 | 0 | losses only | 34.83% | 1.12% | -96.8% |
| Perplexity | 92 | 3 | 0 | losses only | 3.26% | 0.00% | -100.0% |
| Google AI Overviews | 548 | 25 | 15 | 1.67:1 | 8.94% | 7.12% | -20.4% |
| Google AI Mode | 328 | 22 | 14 | 1.57:1 | 12.20% | 9.76% | -20.0% |
| Gemini | 144 | 5 | 3 | 1.67:1 | 3.47% | 2.08% | -40.0% |
| Microsoft Copilot | 135 | 0 | 0 | n/a | 0.00% | 0.00% | n/a |
ChatGPT
ChatGPT produced 30 losses and zero gains in the strict matched Health and Medical panel. Only one matched ChatGPT scenario cited Reddit at both endpoints. That makes ChatGPT the clearest contributor to the family's decline.
This direction is consistent with Promptwatch's August 2026 analysis, which reported an 86.4% drop in Reddit's share of ChatGPT Search citations over a short August window and linked the timing to a change in query fanout behavior. Promptwatch explicitly cautioned that exact percentages depend on methodology and that its observation establishes timing more strongly than causality.
Perplexity
Perplexity produced 3 losses and zero gains in the matched health slice. The base is much smaller than ChatGPT or the Google surfaces, so this should be read directionally rather than as a precise platform-wide rate.
Google AI Overviews
Google AI Overviews produced 25 losses and 15 gains, while retaining Reddit at both endpoints in 24 matched scenarios. That is still negative, but much less one-sided than ChatGPT.
Google AI Mode
Google AI Mode produced 22 losses and 14 gains with 18 persistent Reddit scenarios. Again, the direction is negative without resembling the near-disappearance seen in the matched ChatGPT health slice.
This cross-platform asymmetry is also consistent with Promptwatch's public broad-topic tracking, which found much gentler Reddit declines on Google AI Overviews and AI Mode than in ChatGPT over its August observation window. The absolute rates are not directly comparable to this study because the query populations and metrics differ.

No Single Publisher Replaced Reddit
When a matched scenario cited Reddit in July but not September, we examined domains that were absent in July but newly appeared in the September citation set.
| Rank | Newly appearing domain | Reddit-loss scenarios | Share of Reddit-loss scenarios |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | forbes.com | 9 | 10.6% |
| 2 | healthline.com | 8 | 9.4% |
| 3 | helpguide.org | 8 | 9.4% |
| 4 | talkspace.com | 6 | 7.1% |
| 5 | verywellmind.com | 6 | 7.1% |
| 6 | betterhelp.com | 6 | 7.1% |
| 7 | consumerreports.org | 5 | 5.9% |
| 8 | thervo.com | 5 | 5.9% |
| 9 | choosingtherapy.com | 5 | 5.9% |
The largest replacement candidate, Forbes, newly appeared in only 10.6% of Reddit-loss scenarios. Healthline and HelpGuide each appeared in 9.4%.
That is too diffuse to describe as a one-for-one replacement. The more defensible interpretation is source redistribution. When Reddit disappeared, the newly visible citations were spread across mainstream publishers, health publishers, therapy platforms, provider sites, consumer publications and other sources.
This finding matters commercially. A brand should not react to Reddit losing visible citation share by simply trying to replace "Reddit authority" with one other domain. The opportunity set appears distributed.
How Health and Medical Compares With the Other High-Stakes Families
The Health and Medical family had the steepest aggregate Reddit citation-event decline of the four category families in this series.
| Study family | July-to-September Reddit citation-event share change |
|---|---|
| Health and Medical | -53.5% |
| Credit, Debt, Banking and Lending | approximately -46% |
| Insurance | approximately -43% |
| Investing, Retirement, Mortgage and Financial Decisions | -33.1% |
| Overall High-Stakes Consumer Decisions | -43.3% |
These family differences are important. They show why a single cross-industry "Reddit is up" or "Reddit is down" claim is incomplete. AI source selection varies by both platform and topic.
The financial/investing family remained comparatively Reddit-heavy even after declining. Health and Medical started from a lower Reddit baseline and then fell more sharply. That combination produces a very different September source environment.

Prior Research and Why Our Numbers Differ
PromptWatch: the same broad platform asymmetry appears outside this Health panel
PromptWatch reported that Reddit's share of ChatGPT Search citations averaged 3.83% from July 18 through August 7, 2026, then fell to 0.52% by August 14-17, an 86.4% relative decline. Over roughly the same window, PromptWatch reported much gentler declines on Google AI Overviews and Google AI Mode.
Source: PromptWatch, Why Did ChatGPT Stop Citing Reddit? Inside the August 2026 Citation Collapse
That directional pattern is consistent with Article 30. The exact percentages should not be merged because the studies use different query populations, date windows, capture systems and denominators.
Ahrefs: Reddit remained a major broad source in September
Ahrefs' September 2026 broad U.S. all-topic studies placed Reddit at 16.8% mention share in ChatGPT, 17.9% in Google AI Mode, 18.5% in Google AI Overviews, 28.5% in Gemini and 21.6% in Perplexity. Reddit ranked #1 in ChatGPT, AI Mode, Gemini and Perplexity, and #2 in AI Overviews.
Sources: Ahrefs ChatGPT, AI Mode, AI Overviews, Gemini and Perplexity
That does not contradict a 53.5% Health and Medical decline. Ahrefs measures broad all-topic source mention share, while this study measures a longitudinal change in a defined high-stakes health decision panel.
Tinuiti: social-source behavior is not moving uniformly by engine
Tinuiti's Q3 2026 citation research found most tracked AI platforms at or near Q3 highs in social citation share, while identifying Perplexity as a notable exception.
Source: Tinuiti, AI Citation Trends Report Q3 2026
This study is not a social-media aggregate. It isolates Reddit and studies high-stakes Health and Medical decisions. The relevant agreement is methodological: social-source behavior changes by platform and category.
BrightEdge: healthcare source types differ sharply between ChatGPT and Google AI Overviews
BrightEdge's August 31, 2026 healthcare research found that the five most-cited ChatGPT sources in its tracked healthcare set were NIH, MedlinePlus, Mayo Clinic, CDC and Cleveland Clinic, all government or nonprofit hospital sources. In its Google AI Overviews healthcare series, YouTube's citation presence rose sharply and remained elevated while NIH moved below its June baseline.
BrightEdge's source-ranking study and this Reddit trend study use different prompt sets and metrics. The useful comparison is structural: the Health source market differs by engine, and the source class that matters on one platform should not be assumed to transfer to another.
Together, the outside research reinforces the same operating lesson: AI citation trends depend heavily on platform, category, time window, source class and denominator.

What This Means for Healthcare Publishers
A publisher that previously treated Reddit as a reliable adjacent citation surface should monitor each AI engine separately.
Three practical implications follow from the data:
- Do not assume community visibility automatically converts into visible AI citations. Reddit may still shape consumer language and model retrieval without being shown as a source.
- Build authority across multiple source types. The replacement analysis is fragmented, which favors diversified earned media, expert publishing, review coverage, institutional references and first-party content rather than dependence on one forum.
- Measure prompt clusters, not only brand-level citation totals. Online therapy, pharmacies, doctors, hearing aids and fertility questions changed at different rates.
Healthcare publishers also have an opportunity. If AI systems are redistributing citations away from Reddit in some query classes, high-quality explanatory content, comparative editorial, provider directories, methodology pages and expert-backed guides may compete for source slots that were previously occupied by community discussions.
What This Means for Healthcare Brands and CMOs
For brands, the main implication is not "stop using Reddit." It is stop treating Reddit citation visibility as a stable proxy for AI visibility.
A health-tech company, telehealth platform, hearing-aid brand or treatment provider should separate at least four objectives:
- being discussed by real users
- being retrieved by AI systems
- being explicitly cited by AI systems
- being recommended or mentioned in synthesized answers
Those outcomes can move independently.
Methodology
Source corpus
This study uses the frozen LLM Authority Index High-Stakes Consumer Decisions corpus covering July, August and September 2026.
The archive contains observations from ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Microsoft Copilot, Google AI Overviews and Google AI Mode. Source files were deduplicated by exact file hash before analytical processing so byte-identical copies did not inflate the sample.
Analytical deduplication
Within the corpus, exact repeated observations were anti-double-counted when they shared the same:
- report month
- exact raw platform/source surface
- normalized prompt text
- exact set of original citation URLs
Prompt normalization used Unicode NFKC normalization, case folding, whitespace collapse and trimming. This is an analytical anti-double-counting rule, not evidence that a prompt was executed only once operationally.
Explicit extraction failures
Fallback observations explicitly marked as extraction failures were excluded from eligible response denominators.
Domain normalization
Citation hostnames were normalized to registrable domains for source analysis. www. prefixes were removed and subdomains were consolidated where appropriate. This article's primary trend metric, however, is Reddit-specific and therefore depends on whether a citation resolved to reddit.com.
Balanced monthly panel
The headline July-to-September comparison includes Health and Medical verticals that had observations at both endpoints. Medical Alert Systems is excluded because the frozen corpus has no July dataset for that vertical.
A zero observed Reddit share is treated as a measured zero. A missing month is not converted into a zero.
Primary metric
Reddit citation-event share = Reddit citation events divided by all citation events in the eligible slice.
This metric answers: what share of visible citations pointed to Reddit?
Secondary metric
Reddit response citation coverage = eligible responses citing Reddit at least once divided by all eligible responses.
A response can count Reddit only once for this metric even if it cites multiple Reddit URLs.
Strict matched-prompt test
The matched analysis compares scenarios where the same normalized prompt and AI platform were observed in both July and September within the Health and Medical family.
Each matched scenario was classified as:
- Reddit present at both endpoints
- Reddit lost
- Reddit gained
- Reddit absent at both endpoints
This design reduces prompt-mix effects but does not eliminate every possible source of sampling or platform variance.

Limitations
- This is a defined commercial prompt corpus, not all health-related AI usage. Results should not be generalized to every medical question.
- Health and Medical verticals are source labels, not statistically independent industries. Fertility Clinics and IVF Clinics overlap materially.
- Prompt spillover exists. Some Home Health Care prompts can be employment or franchise adjacent.
- Medical Alert Systems lacks a July dataset. It is excluded from the balanced endpoint rather than treated as zero.
- Visible citations are not the same as retrieval or model influence. A source can influence an answer without being displayed as a clickable citation.
- Platform behavior changes over time. This article measures a July-to-September 2026 interval.
- The study is observational. It does not identify the cause of source-selection changes.
- Replacement-source analysis is descriptive. A domain newly appearing after Reddit disappears is not proof that it causally replaced Reddit.
