LLM Authority Index Research | Perplexity | Investing, Retirement, Mortgage and Financial Decisions | July-September 2026
Perplexity uses a distinct source ecosystem when consumers ask high-stakes questions about investing, retirement, mortgages, refinancing, financial advisors, stock brokers, robo-advisors, annuities, structured settlements, precious metals and crypto.
Across 1,683 deduplicated Perplexity responses covering 11 financial decision verticals, NerdWallet ranked #1, appearing as a cited domain in 10.46% of eligible responses. Investopedia ranked #2 at 8.73%, Business Insider #3 at 7.43%, Money.com #4 at 7.25%, and Bankrate #5 at 6.77%.
The category source market is considerably more concentrated than Perplexity overall. The Top 10 financial domains account for 44.6% of domain-response appearances, compared with 35.0% for Perplexity across the full High-Stakes Consumer Decisions study. The financial Top 100 account for 79.5%, compared with 66.9% in the broader Perplexity study.
Only 41 of the financial Top 100 domains also appear in Perplexity's overall Top 100. That gap shows why a platform-wide source leaderboard can miss publishers and specialist domains that become strategically important inside a particular commercial decision category.
Perplexity also requires technical-source cleanup. In this deduplicated slice, 131 captured citation entries were excluded from the public publisher ranking: 125 Perplexity thumbnail-CDN entries on d2u1z1lopyfwlx.cloudfront.net and 6 citation records without a usable source URL. Those records were retained in the audit trail but not ranked as publishers.
This is a source-visibility ranking. It is not a trust score, quality grade, recommendation score, or causal ranking. A domain can be frequently cited without causing Perplexity to recommend a particular financial company, lender, brokerage, advisor, mortgage provider, crypto platform, precious-metals dealer, or investment product.

Questions This Study Answers
- Which websites dominate Perplexity citations for high-stakes investing, retirement, mortgage and financial decisions, and how does that source hierarchy change by vertical?
- How persistent is Perplexity's financial source market over time, and how portable is that authority to other AI platforms?
- What should financial publishers, investment brands, mortgage companies and CMOs measure before allocating resources to Perplexity-focused content, PR, partnerships or earned media?
Why This Research Belongs in Daily AI Search Marketing Decisions
This article sits at the intersection of two commercially useful views of the same source market:
- the Perplexity platform view, which asks which sources recur across high-stakes consumer decisions on Perplexity; and
- the Investing, Retirement, Mortgage and Financial decision-family view, which asks which sources recur across six AI platform families for one commercial financial category.
For publishers and specialist financial sites, that intersection supports a more precise claim than saying a domain is simply "visible in Perplexity." A source can document whether it is cited specifically for high-intent investing, mortgage, retirement, precious-metals, crypto, annuity or structured-settlement decisions, whether that visibility persists over time, and whether its authority is broad across the family or concentrated in one decision journey.
For brands, financial institutions, mortgage companies, investment platforms, CMOs, PR teams and agencies, the operating question is:
Which sources are already present around the exact financial decisions our customers ask Perplexity to help them make?
Five findings matter for daily planning:
- the Top 100 account for 79.5% of domain-response appearances in this Perplexity financial slice;
- the Top 10 account for 44.6% of domain-response appearances;
- only 41 domains overlap between this financial Top 100 and Perplexity's broader High-Stakes Top 100;
- 38 domains remained in the monthly financial Top 100 in July, August and September, and the median of the three monthly Top 100 Jaccard comparisons was 32.5%; and
- the final child-study Top 100 lists show Perplexity sharing 57 domains with Google AI Overviews, 52 with Google AI Mode, 43 with Gemini, 41 with ChatGPT and 40 with Microsoft Copilot.
The parent Investing, Retirement, Mortgage and Financial Citation Authority Study provides the category-level Persistence-Portability Gap interpretation. It reports:
- 66.7% median monthly Top 100 persistence;
- 28.2% frozen median cross-platform Top 100 portability; and
- an approximate 38.5 percentage-point Persistence-Portability Gap.
This answers a narrower Perplexity-specific question. Its 32.5% median monthly Top 100 persistence should not be subtracted from one pairwise cross-platform overlap to create a Perplexity-specific gap. The parent PPG uses category-level summary statistics across the broader family.
There is also a versioning caveat. Recomputing portability from the final six child-study Top 100 lists produces a median of about 27.4%, rather than the frozen parent's 28.2%. The parent study therefore continues to use 28.2% for its published PPG until the entire family is rerun through one consolidated pipeline. Article 37 should not silently mix those versions.
The concentration result also should not be confused with stability. Perplexity's financial source market is concentrated, yet its monthly Top 100 rotated substantially. Concentration, persistence and portability are distinct measurements.
Citation visibility should remain separate from brand mentions, recommendation rate, ranking, sentiment, citation-recommendation coupling and downstream outcomes. A source can be frequently cited without causing Perplexity to recommend a particular lender, investment platform, financial advisor, broker, exchange or retirement product.
Commercial Action Matrix: What Publishers and CMOs Can Do With the Findings
| Research finding | What financial publishers can responsibly say | What brands and CMOs can reasonably do |
|---|---|---|
| NerdWallet, Investopedia, Business Insider, Money.com and Bankrate lead this Perplexity financial source map | "Our domain can be benchmarked against the sources most frequently cited by Perplexity for this defined financial decision set." | Use category leaders as a research tier, then test fit for the exact product and prompt cluster. |
| The Top 100 account for 79.5% of domain-response appearances | "Perplexity's measured financial source market is concentrated." | Prioritize the recurring source core before expanding into specialists and the long tail. |
| Only 41 domains overlap with broad Perplexity's Top 100 | "Category-specific authority can be commercially important without broad platform-wide rank." | Use investing, retirement, mortgage and financial source maps instead of generic Perplexity leaderboards. |
| 38 domains remained in the Top 100 across all three months and median monthly Jaccard was 32.5% | "A three-month aggregate should not be described as fixed or permanent." | Refresh source-priority lists on a fixed cadence and track gains, losses and rank movement. |
| Perplexity shares 57 financial Top 100 domains with Google AI Overviews but only 40 with Microsoft Copilot | "Source portability differs materially by platform pair." | Maintain a shared cross-platform core plus Perplexity-specific and engine-specific priorities. |
| The parent category reports a 38.5-point exploratory Persistence-Portability Gap | "The broader financial source portfolio is more stable over time than fully transferable across engines." | Separate the time question from the platform question when allocating content, PR and partnership resources. |
| APMEX, JM Bullion, Kraken and StockBrokers.com gain sharply after the financial filter | "Specialist authority can be understated by a broad platform leaderboard." | Preserve vertical specialists when they dominate the exact commercial decision, even if their platform-wide rank is modest. |
| Reddit fell from monthly #4 and #3 to #33 in September | "Three-month aggregate rank can hide substantial source-level drift." | Monitor important sources monthly rather than relying only on aggregate leaderboards. |
| 131 technical or unusable citation records were excluded | "The ranking reflects substantive public-facing sources rather than thumbnail infrastructure or unusable source records." | Audit raw Perplexity citation exports before using them for publisher investment decisions. |
| Citation visibility does not establish recommendation causality | "Our content is measurably present in the visible source layer." | Measure citations, mentions, recommendations, rank, sentiment and business outcomes separately. |
The daily operating model is therefore four-layered:
- Current Perplexity financial core: maintain the sources that matter now, with the collection date attached.
- Vertical and prompt-cluster layer: identify which sources dominate the exact mortgage, refinance, advisor, brokerage, robo-advisor, retirement, precious-metals, crypto or settlement decision.
- Longitudinal check: monitor whether priority sources persist, decline, rotate or change rank.
- Cross-platform check: determine whether the same sources also matter in Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode, ChatGPT, Gemini and Microsoft Copilot.

The Top 25 Perplexity Financial Citation Sources
Response Citation Coverage measures the percentage of eligible deduplicated responses in which a registrable domain appeared at least once. A domain counts no more than once per response for the primary metric, even when multiple URLs from the same site are cited.

The Top 25 combine broad financial publishers, major media brands, specialist investing and crypto sites, first-party financial companies, consumer comparison sites, and niche authorities. That mixture is commercially important because one overall list cannot tell a mortgage marketer, gold dealer, broker, crypto company and annuity provider to target the same sources.

Citation Concentration
| Ranking depth | Share of domain-response appearances | Share of substantive citation events |
|---|---|---|
| Top 10 | 44.6% | 45.2% |
| Top 25 | 59.1% | 59.7% |
| Top 50 | 70.3% | 70.5% |
| Top 100 | 79.5% | 79.7% |
Perplexity's financial source market is substantially more concentrated than its broader high-stakes source market. Perplexity overall places 35.0% of domain-response appearances in its Top 10 and 66.9% in its Top 100. Inside this financial category, those figures rise to 44.6% and 79.5%.
That concentration makes a category source map commercially useful, but the vertical tables below show why the Top 10 cannot substitute for product-specific analysis.
Financial Specialization vs. Perplexity Overall
Only 41 domains in this financial Top 100 also appear in Perplexity's overall Top 100 across the full High-Stakes Consumer Decisions panel.
| Domain | Perplexity financial coverage | Perplexity overall coverage | Financial / overall lift | Overall Perplexity rank |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| nerdwallet.com | 10.46% | 12.77% | 0.82x | 1 |
| investopedia.com | 8.73% | 6.59% | 1.33x | 5 |
| businessinsider.com | 7.43% | 5.00% | 1.49x | 7 |
| money.com | 7.25% | 7.05% | 1.03x | 3 |
| bankrate.com | 6.77% | 6.74% | 1.00x | 4 |
| cnbc.com | 5.11% | 5.94% | 0.86x | 6 |
| forbes.com | 4.81% | 7.28% | 0.66x | 2 |
| reddit.com | 4.81% | 4.46% | 1.08x | 8 |
| yahoo.com | 3.27% | 3.36% | 0.97x | 10 |
| apmex.com | 1.96% | 0.58% | 3.38x | 40 |
| finder.com | 1.84% | 0.76% | 2.42x | 34 |
| consumeraffairs.com | 1.72% | 1.26% | 1.37x | 22 |
| jmbullion.com | 1.66% | 0.49% | 3.40x | 47 |
| kraken.com | 1.66% | 0.49% | 3.40x | 48 |
| stockbrokers.com | 1.66% | 0.51% | 3.26x | 45 |
Several category specialists become much more important after the financial filter is applied. APMEX rises from 0.58% Perplexity-wide coverage to 1.96% in this category, a 3.38x lift. JM Bullion rises from 0.49% overall to 1.66%, while Kraken rises from 0.49% overall to 1.66% and StockBrokers.com rises from 0.51% overall to 1.66%.
Investopedia and Business Insider also become more prominent after the category filter, while NerdWallet and Forbes are strong in the platform-wide source market as well.
This is the practical value of category lift. It surfaces sources whose importance would be understated by a broad platform leaderboard.

The Most-Cited Sources by Individual Financial Vertical
The category-wide ranking should not be treated as the answer for every financial product. The leading sources change materially by vertical.
| Financial vertical | Perplexity responses | Five leading cited domains by response coverage |
|---|---|---|
| Annuities | 37 | annuity.org 24.3%; forbes.com 18.9%; nerdwallet.com 18.9%; cnbc.com 13.5%; wsj.com 10.8% |
| Crypto Exchanges | 263 | investopedia.com 16.0%; businessinsider.com 12.9%; kraken.com 9.9%; reddit.com 9.5%; nerdwallet.com 9.5% |
| Crypto Wallets | 268 | money.com 10.8%; businessinsider.com 9.3%; forbes.com 7.8%; bitcoinfoundation.org 4.9%; nerdwallet.com 4.5% |
| Gold IRAs and Precious Metals Dealers | 243 | money.com 15.2%; apmex.com 13.6%; investopedia.com 12.3%; jmbullion.com 11.5%; reddit.com 9.5% |
| Mortgage | 157 | bankrate.com 17.8%; cnbc.com 14.0%; money.com 14.0%; yahoo.com 13.4%; fortune.com 10.2% |
| Mortgage Refinance Lenders | 157 | bankrate.com 19.7%; money.com 11.5%; cnbc.com 10.8%; fortune.com 10.8%; nerdwallet.com 10.2% |
| Online Financial Advisors | 261 | nerdwallet.com 21.5%; businessinsider.com 13.4%; cnbc.com 11.1%; bankrate.com 10.7%; investopedia.com 10.0% |
| Online Stock Brokers | 270 | nerdwallet.com 18.9%; investopedia.com 13.3%; bankrate.com 12.6%; stockbrokers.com 8.5%; forbes.com 8.1% |
| Reverse Mortgage | 75 | money.com 22.7%; cnbc.com 17.3%; bankrate.com 13.3%; yahoo.com 12.0%; nerdwallet.com 10.7% |
| Robo-Advisors | 283 | nerdwallet.com 17.7%; businessinsider.com 14.1%; bankrate.com 9.2%; cnbc.com 9.2%; investopedia.com 6.4% |
| Structured Settlements | 27 | annuity.org 25.9%; catalinastructuredfunding.com 22.2%; consumeraffairs.com 18.5%; jgwentworth.com 14.8%; peachtreefinancial.com 14.8% |
Several patterns stand out:
- NerdWallet leads Online Financial Advisors, Online Stock Brokers, and Robo-Advisors in this slice.
- Bankrate leads Mortgage and Mortgage Refinance Lenders.
- Money.com leads Crypto Wallets, Gold IRAs and Precious Metals Dealers, and Reverse Mortgage.
- Investopedia leads Crypto Exchanges.
- Annuity.org leads Annuities and Structured Settlements, although both of those verticals have small samples and should be interpreted cautiously.
- APMEX reaches 13.6% coverage in Gold IRAs and Precious Metals Dealers even though it ranks #10 category-wide.
- StockBrokers.com reaches 8.5% in Online Stock Brokers even though it ranks #15 category-wide.
The smallest samples are Annuities with 37 responses and Structured Settlements with 27. Those vertical leaderboards are descriptive snapshots, not stable estimates of the entire market.

Breadth vs. Specialization
Broad authority and specialist authority are different assets.
NerdWallet and Forbes each appear across all 11 financial verticals in this Perplexity slice. Investopedia, Business Insider and Bankrate each appear across 10 of 11. Money.com and Yahoo each appear across nine.
Specialist sources can still be strategically important with much narrower breadth. APMEX and JM Bullion each appear in only one category vertical but rank #10 and #13 category-wide because of concentrated precious-metals visibility. Kraken appears across two category verticals and ranks #14. StockBrokers.com appears across four and ranks #15.
For a diversified financial publisher, breadth can support a cross-product commercial story. For a niche advertiser, specialist depth inside the exact buyer journey can matter more than category-wide rank.
Monthly Persistence and Citation Drift
| Monthly Top 100 comparison | Shared domains | Jaccard similarity |
|---|---|---|
| July vs. August | 68 | 51.5% |
| July vs. September | 46 | 29.9% |
| August vs. September | 49 | 32.5% |
Only 38 domains stayed in the Perplexity financial Top 100 in all three months. The median of the three monthly Top 100 Jaccard comparisons was 32.5%.
The leading source was unusually persistent: NerdWallet ranked #1 in July, August and September. Investopedia ranked #3, #2 and #3. Business Insider ranked #5, #4 and #5. Money.com moved from #6 in July and August to #2 in September.
Reddit shows the opposite pattern. It ranked #4 in July and #3 in August, then fell to #33 in September. The movement is consistent with the broader Perplexity Reddit decline documented elsewhere in this research series.
The category therefore contains a durable head and a much more fluid perimeter. One-time rankings are useful for orientation, but recurring measurement is necessary for campaign evaluation.
Platform Differences: Perplexity's Financial Source Market Is Not Interchangeable With Other AI Engines
The final Investing, Retirement, Mortgage and Financial child-study Top 100 lists show meaningful cross-platform overlap, but no other measured engine uses the same source portfolio.
| Comparison | Shared Top 100 Domains | Jaccard Similarity |
|---|---|---|
| Perplexity financial vs. Google AI Overviews financial | 57 | 39.9% |
| Perplexity financial vs. Google AI Mode financial | 52 | 35.1% |
| Perplexity financial vs. Gemini financial | 43 | 27.4% |
| Perplexity financial vs. ChatGPT financial | 41 | 25.8% |
| Perplexity financial vs. Microsoft Copilot financial | 40 | 25.0% |
Perplexity is closest to Google AI Overviews in this decision family. Its overlap with Google AI Mode is lower, and the ChatGPT, Gemini and Microsoft Copilot source sets diverge further.
That difference is commercially important. A source strategy optimized for Google AI search, ChatGPT, Gemini or Copilot is not automatically a Perplexity source strategy.
The operating implication is to maintain three layers: a cross-platform financial core, a Perplexity-specific source layer, and a vertical-specific specialist layer.

Prior Research and Why the Rankings Can Look Different
Ahrefs: broad U.S. all-topic Perplexity queries
Ahrefs' September 2026 Perplexity study tracks more than 3.1 million U.S. queries across all topics and ranks domains by mention share among the leading sources. Reddit ranks #1 at 21.6%, YouTube #2 at 20.8%, and Wikipedia #3 at 6.3%. Ahrefs: The 50 Most-Cited Websites in Perplexity
That is very different from Article 37, where NerdWallet, Investopedia, Business Insider, Money.com and Bankrate lead a high-intent financial panel by response citation coverage.
The difference is not a contradiction. The query population, category mix, metric, denominator and time window differ.
BrightEdge: finance source concentration changes by engine
BrightEdge's August 31, 2026 finance analysis compared Google AI Overviews and ChatGPT using citation presence across tracked U.S. finance prompts. Its leading Google source appeared in about 51% of prompts, while the fifth-ranked source appeared in 18%. ChatGPT's top five were much flatter at about 19%, 15%, 14%, 14% and 11%. BrightEdge: Institution or Platform
BrightEdge does not report Perplexity in that comparison, so those percentages should not be imported into Article 37. The relevant agreement is structural: finance source concentration and source hierarchy are engine-specific.
Wellows: same-question source overlap is much lower than aggregated Top 100 overlap
Wellows analyzed 22.7 million citations across more than 1.1 million questions from January through June 2026. Its same-question website overlap was 9.3% between Perplexity and Google AI Overviews, 8.3% with Google AI Mode, 7.4% with Gemini and 6.5% with ChatGPT. Wellows AI Citation Overlap Study
Those values should not be compared directly with Article 37's Top 100 Jaccard values. Wellows compares sources question by question, while Article 37 compares aggregated category Top 100 domain sets. The agreement is conceptual: source portability depends heavily on the engine pair and the unit of analysis.
Tinuiti: Perplexity is a notable exception in broader social-source trends
Tinuiti's Q3 2026 AI Citation Trends Report tracks six AI platforms across multiple commercial categories. It reports that most tracked platforms are at or near Q3 highs in social citation share, with Perplexity a notable exception. Tinuiti Q3 2026 AI Citation Trends Report
Tinuiti's categories and metric differ from this study, but the platform-specific direction is relevant to the large Reddit rank decline observed inside this Perplexity financial panel.
Studies can disagree because of:
- query selection
- commercial intent
- geography
- time window
- ranking metric
- citation-event versus response-level counting
- source-type classification
- technical-asset exclusions
- domain normalization
- platform mode and UI behavior
The relevant question is not which ranking is universally correct. It is which ranking matches the decision environment and measurement contract a publisher or brand actually cares about.

Why This Study Is Different
This study is not differentiated simply because it publishes a Perplexity source list. Its contribution is the combination of:
- a high-stakes consumer-decision query population;
- 11 investing, retirement, mortgage and financial source verticals;
- a three-month July-September measurement window;
- a Perplexity-specific platform slice;
- response-level domain coverage as the primary metric;
- citation-event volume reported separately;
- explicit extraction-failure accounting;
- exact-repeat anti-double-counting across overlapping source exports;
- registrable-domain normalization;
- explicit Perplexity infrastructure cleanup;
- a full Top 100 plus product-level source leaders;
- platform-wide versus category-specific lift; and
- commercial interpretation for publishers and CMOs.
Why AI Citation Studies Can Disagree
Two well-executed studies can produce different rankings without either being wrong. Common reasons include:
- Different query populations. All-topic prompts and high-stakes commercial prompts surface different sources.
- Different platform surfaces. Consumer products, APIs and tracking systems can expose sources differently.
- Different metrics. Response coverage, raw citation count, mention share and unique-URL counts answer different questions.
- Different time windows. This study shows substantial September movement in the Perplexity financial source set.
- Different technical filtering. Thumbnail, CDN, map, navigation and blank citation records can distort rankings if treated as publishers.
- Different domain normalization. Subdomain consolidation changes rankings.
- Different duplicate handling. Overlapping exports can inflate some sources if exact repeats are counted more than once.
- Different citation depth. A pipeline that captures two citations per response can produce a different tail from one that captures ten.
- Different geography or account state. Search results and AI outputs can vary by location, language, product tier and rollout.
- Different product mix. Mortgage, crypto, annuity, brokerage and precious-metals prompts have very different source ecosystems.
The correct question is not which leaderboard is universally correct. It is which measurement contract matches the decision being made.

What This Means for Financial Publishers
Perplexity citation data can support a useful commercial statement when the scope is preserved.
A defensible formulation is:
Our domain was measurably present among the sources Perplexity cited when answering high-stakes investing, retirement, mortgage and financial consumer questions in the July-September 2026 LLM Authority Index panel.
Publishers can strengthen that statement by documenting:
- response-level citation coverage;
- breadth across financial verticals;
- strength inside an exact financial product category;
- month-to-month persistence;
- platform-specific rank; and
- whether visibility is broad or specialist.
A publisher should not convert source visibility into a claim that paid placement, advertising, sponsored content, or editorial inclusion guarantees future Perplexity citations or brand recommendations.
What This Means for Brands and CMOs
For financial brands, the data suggests a layered source strategy.
- Start with persistent Perplexity financial authorities that recur across multiple months and verticals.
- Overlay the exact product market. A mortgage lender, gold dealer, brokerage, crypto company and annuity provider need different source maps.
- Separate first-party visibility from third-party visibility. A brand's own domain and independent publisher coverage are different levers.
- Compare Perplexity with the other AI engines. The platform table shows that source authority does not transfer cleanly.
- Re-run the same prompt clusters over time. Monthly movement makes one-time screenshots unsuitable for causal campaign claims.
The objective is not to acquire a generic backlink for Perplexity. It is to understand which sources repeatedly appear around the exact commercial questions the brand cares about and then improve the brand's representation across that source environment.
Methodology
Research source
This study uses the frozen July-September 2026 LLM Authority Index High-Stakes Consumer Decisions archive used by the parent citation-authority study and the other platform/category studies in this 66-article research program.
Platform filter
Only observations assigned to the Perplexity platform family are included.
Category assignment
Observations are included when their preserved source memberships belong to the Investing, Retirement, Mortgage and Financial Decisions family. The 11 source labels are listed in the What We Studied section.
Exact file deduplication
Byte-identical source files were deduplicated by SHA-256 before observation processing.
Analytical anti-double-counting
Observations were treated as exact repeats when they shared the same:
- report month;
- exact raw platform/source surface;
- normalized prompt text; and
- exact set of original citation URLs.
One analytical record was retained while preserving originating source memberships. This prevents exact repeats from inflating category totals but does not establish that the upstream platform executed a prompt only once.
Prompt normalization
Prompt matching uses Unicode NFKC normalization, case folding, whitespace collapse, and trimming. Prompt wording is otherwise preserved.
Domain normalization
Citation URLs were parsed to hostnames, normalized to lowercase, stripped of leading www., and consolidated to registrable domains using Public Suffix List logic.
Infrastructure exclusions
The public ranking excludes obvious technical or unusable entries rather than treating them as editorial sources. In this financial slice, 125 citation entries pointed to d2u1z1lopyfwlx.cloudfront.net, a Perplexity thumbnail-infrastructure host, and 6 citation records did not contain a usable source URL. Those 131 entries were excluded from the public publisher ranking.
Primary metric
Response Citation Coverage = eligible Perplexity financial responses citing domain at least once / all eligible Perplexity financial responses.
The denominator for this article is 1,683 responses. A domain counts at most once per response for this metric.
Secondary metric
Citation Events count substantive captured citation entries after public infrastructure filtering. One response can contain multiple cited URLs from the same domain even though the domain counts once for response coverage.
Monthly rankings
July, August and September Top 100 lists are calculated independently from eligible responses in each month. Missing source periods are not imputed or treated as zero.
Vertical views
A deduplicated response can retain more than one originating source membership when overlapping exports contain the same exact observation. Vertical tables therefore describe preserved source memberships and are not assumed to be statistically independent.
Top 100 overlap
Jaccard similarity is calculated as:
shared Top 100 domains / unique domains across the two Top 100 lists
No causal interpretation
A visible citation establishes an observed source relationship. It does not prove that a source caused Perplexity to mention, rank, recommend, or convert a consumer for any financial product or company.

Limitations
- This is a defined high-intent financial prompt corpus, not every Perplexity question about finance or investing.
- The 11 source vertical labels are not statistically independent industries.
- Some verticals have much larger response counts than others.
- Annuities and Structured Settlements are particularly small in this Perplexity slice and should be interpreted cautiously.
- Citation visibility does not prove recommendation causality, endorsement, trust, factual accuracy, or conversion impact.
- A citation can be present without the cited source being the primary influence on the answer.
- Platform behavior can change after the September 2026 endpoint.
- Domain-level aggregation hides page-level differences and URL turnover.
- Technical-source cleanup is necessary and can create differences from raw exports.
- The captured Perplexity citation depth is lower than some independent Perplexity research systems, so this dataset should not be used to estimate a universal number of citations per answer.
Commercial Disclosure
LLM Authority Index is part of a business ecosystem that provides AI visibility, research, and marketing services. Affiliated businesses may have current or historical commercial relationships with companies or publishers that appear in the dataset. Commercial relationships are not inputs to ranking methodology. Domains are included based on observed citation data. No ranking is an endorsement. No relationship is presented as the cause of a citation outcome.
