Answer capsule

The November 2026 Gap Insurance benchmark compares 10 companies across 338 AI answers that met its inclusion rules. USAA leads with 200 recommendations (59.17% of answers). At least one tracked company was recommended in 219 answers; some answers recommended several companies.

The rankings distinguish being mentioned from receiving an affirmative recommendation, then examine placement and the wording used about each company. Earlier monthly results show how counts and rates changed, with each month using its own answer total. These results describe the answers reviewed, not product quality or customer satisfaction. Differences between monthly samples limit comparisons and do not establish why a result changed.

The leaderboard orders companies by recommendation count, so it reflects how often each firm received an affirmative endorsement in the reviewed AI answers, not how often it appeared. A company can be mentioned frequently yet recommended less often, and placement measures sit inside recommendations rather than beside them.

Ties require equal recommendation counts; near-equal counts are not ties. Reading mentions, recommendations and placements separately keeps reach distinct from endorsement and keeps position within an answer distinct from whether that answer endorsed the company at all.

219 distinct answers recommended at least one tracked company. Counting each company recommendation separately gives 1315, because an answer can recommend several companies. Answers with no tracked recommendation may still have recommended companies outside this comparison.

Every qualified answer mentioned at least one tracked company, but only about two-thirds recommended one. Because a single answer can recommend several companies, company-level recommendation totals exceed the number of answers carrying any recommendation.

This overlap means coverage describes presence across answers, not market share or dominance. Answers with no tracked recommendation may still have named companies outside this comparison, so the uncovered portion is not evidence of an empty answer.

Reach and affirmative recommendation

USAA ranks 1 by recommendation count. Mentions: 326 (96.45%); recommendations: 200 (59.17%). Top 3 placements: 100 (29.59%); first-place placements: 42 (12.43%).

Wording about the company: 226 positive, 99 neutral, 1 negative mentions. The proportion of mentions that also included a recommendation was 61.3%. The net framing score was 0.69 (defined in Methodology).

126 mentions had no recorded recommendation. Of recorded recommendations, 50.00% were Top 3 and 21.00% were first-place.

USAA leads on recommendation count while appearing in nearly every answer, yet a substantial share of its mentions carried no recorded recommendation. Mention is appearance; recommendation is affirmative endorsement. The gap between them is the space this profile measures.

Its recommendation-to-mention ratio describes the recorded answers only. It is not a conversion rate, and the framing score reflects wording in those answers rather than customer sentiment or company quality.

Top-three and first-place counts are nested within recommendations, not additional wins. A company recommended often may still rarely occupy an early position, and the printed ratios show that distinction across firms.

Because placements depend on a nonzero recommendation base, sparse bases make strong placement ratios fragile. These figures describe where endorsements appeared in answer text, not consumer preference or purchasing behavior.

Framing classifies the wording surrounding each mention as positive, neutral or negative. It is a description of language in the selected answers, not a reputation measure, and neutral wording neither confirms nor denies an endorsement.

Positive framing does not establish why a recommendation occurred, and negative framing does not establish why one was withheld. The counts should be read alongside recommendation and placement figures rather than as a standalone quality signal.

Company results in detail

USAA

Questions This Section Answers

  • What do the November 2026 AI answer results show about USAA mentions, recommendations and placement?

USAA ranks 1 by recommendation count. Mentions: 326 (96.45%); recommendations: 200 (59.17%). Top 3 placements: 100 (29.59%); first-place placements: 42 (12.43%).

Wording about the company: 226 positive, 99 neutral, 1 negative mentions. The proportion of mentions that also included a recommendation was 61.3%. The net framing score was 0.69 (defined in Methodology).

126 mentions had no recorded recommendation. Of recorded recommendations, 50.00% were Top 3 and 21.00% were first-place.

From October 2026 to November 2026, USAA's mention count fell from 375 to 326, while its recommendation count fell from 278 to 200. The recommendation rate was 72.21% and 59.17% respectively.

USAA holds the top recommendation count, with mentions in nearly every answer and a majority of mentions also carrying a recommendation. Its placements are frequent relative to peers, and first-place appearances form a meaningful subset of its shortlist placements.

Framing is overwhelmingly positive with almost no negative wording. The prior-month comparison shows both mention and recommendation counts lower, with a lower recommendation rate; the samples differ, so the change is recorded without an explanation.

State Farm

Questions This Section Answers

  • What do the November 2026 AI answer results show about State Farm mentions, recommendations and placement?

State Farm ranks 2 by recommendation count. Mentions: 335 (99.11%); recommendations: 197 (58.28%). Top 3 placements: 123 (36.39%); first-place placements: 70 (20.71%).

Wording about the company: 218 positive, 114 neutral, 3 negative mentions. The proportion of mentions that also included a recommendation was 58.8%. The net framing score was 0.64 (defined in Methodology).

138 mentions had no recorded recommendation. Of recorded recommendations, 62.44% were Top 3 and 35.53% were first-place.

From October 2026 to November 2026, State Farm's mention count fell from 382 to 335, while its recommendation count fell from 275 to 197. The recommendation rate was 71.43% and 58.28% respectively.

State Farm ranks second on recommendations while appearing in nearly every answer, giving it the widest mention reach in this set. Its shortlist and first-place counts are the largest recorded, and placements form a substantial share of its recommendations.

Framing is mostly positive with few negative mentions. Both mention and recommendation counts were lower than the previous month, and the recommendation rate also fell; because the monthly samples differ, the comparison is descriptive only.

Travelers

Questions This Section Answers

  • What do the November 2026 AI answer results show about Travelers mentions, recommendations and placement?

Travelers ranks 3 by recommendation count. Mentions: 311 (92.01%); recommendations: 189 (55.92%). Top 3 placements: 77 (22.78%); first-place placements: 46 (13.61%).

Wording about the company: 201 positive, 109 neutral, 1 negative mentions. The proportion of mentions that also included a recommendation was 60.8%. The net framing score was 0.64 (defined in Methodology).

122 mentions had no recorded recommendation. Of recorded recommendations, 40.74% were Top 3 and 24.34% were first-place.

From October 2026 to November 2026, Travelers' mention count fell from 350 to 311, while its recommendation count fell from 252 to 189. The recommendation rate was 65.45% and 55.92% respectively.

Travelers ranks third on recommendations with high mention reach. Its recommendation-to-mention ratio is close to the leaders, and first-place appearances make up a notable portion of its recommendations, though shortlist placements are fewer than for the top two firms.

Framing is largely positive with minimal negative wording. Mention and recommendation counts were both lower than the prior month, alongside a lower recommendation rate; the separate samples do not establish a cause.

Progressive

Questions This Section Answers

  • What do the November 2026 AI answer results show about Progressive mentions, recommendations and placement?

Progressive ranks 4 by recommendation count. Mentions: 319 (94.38%); recommendations: 163 (48.22%). Top 3 placements: 87 (25.74%); first-place placements: 1 (0.30%).

Wording about the company: 190 positive, 125 neutral, 4 negative mentions. The proportion of mentions that also included a recommendation was 51.1%. The net framing score was 0.58 (defined in Methodology).

156 mentions had no recorded recommendation. Of recorded recommendations, 53.37% were Top 3 and 0.61% were first-place.

From October 2026 to November 2026, Progressive's mention count fell from 354 to 319, while its recommendation count fell from 241 to 163. The recommendation rate was 62.60% and 48.22% respectively.

Progressive ranks fourth on recommendations with very high mention reach, but its first-place appearances are almost absent even though shortlist placements are common. That pattern separates being recommended from being placed first.

Framing is mostly positive with a small negative share. Both mention and recommendation counts were lower than the previous month, and the recommendation rate declined; the differing samples mean the change is recorded, not explained.

Allstate

Questions This Section Answers

  • What do the November 2026 AI answer results show about Allstate mentions, recommendations and placement?

Allstate ranks 5 by recommendation count. Mentions: 300 (88.76%); recommendations: 125 (36.98%). Top 3 placements: 17 (5.03%); first-place placements: 2 (0.59%).

175 mentions had no recorded recommendation. Of recorded recommendations, 13.60% were Top 3 and 1.60% were first-place.

From October 2026 to November 2026, Allstate's mention count fell from 320 to 300, while its recommendation count fell from 188 to 125. The recommendation rate was 48.83% and 36.98% respectively.

Allstate ranks fifth on recommendations, but its shortlist and first-place placements are rare relative to its recommendation count. Mentions are frequent, yet fewer than half carried a recommendation.

Framing is split between positive and neutral with a small negative share. Mention and recommendation counts were both lower than the prior month, and the recommendation rate fell; the samples differ, so no cause is inferred.

Nationwide

Questions This Section Answers

  • What do the November 2026 AI answer results show about Nationwide mentions, recommendations and placement?

Nationwide ranks 6 by recommendation count. Mentions: 276 (81.66%); recommendations: 117 (34.62%). Top 3 placements: 18 (5.33%); first-place placements: 2 (0.59%).

Nationwide ranks sixth on recommendations. Its mention count rose compared with the previous month while its recommendation count fell, so the two measures moved in opposite directions and should not be described as unchanged together.

Placements are uncommon relative to recommendations, and framing is balanced between positive and neutral. The recommendation rate was slightly lower; the differing monthly samples do not establish why the counts diverged.

Erie Insurance

Questions This Section Answers

  • What do the November 2026 AI answer results show about Erie Insurance mentions, recommendations and placement?

Erie Insurance ranks 7 by recommendation count. Mentions: 156 (46.15%); recommendations: 101 (29.88%). Top 3 placements: 16 (4.73%); first-place placements: 6 (1.78%).

Only months with verified results are shown. Monthly sample coverage is listed in Methodology.

Each month is a separate sample of AI answers, and the answer totals differ between them. The comparison shows how recorded counts and rates changed, not why, and it does not establish rank stability or equivalent sampling.

A changed count or rate does not demonstrate improvement, lost standing or the effect of any intervention. Rank shifts between months reflect the recorded ordering of recommendation counts in each sample.

What the November Rankings Show

These measures answer different questions. Mention asks whether a company appeared; recommendation asks whether the answer affirmatively endorsed it; placement asks where within the answer that endorsement sat; framing describes the wording around the mention. None of them measures customer behavior, sales or company quality.

A firm can be widely mentioned yet rarely recommended, or recommended often yet seldom placed first. Reading the measures together, rather than collapsing them into one score, shows where reach and endorsement diverge across the tracked companies.

Methodology

Questions This Section Answers

This benchmark has partial coverage: 3 of 3 planned question categories contributed usable observations; 0 contributed none. This describes question-category coverage, not demonstrated platform outages. Findings apply to the available answer set.

The month in the title is the reporting period. The exact dates when the original AI answers were collected have not been verified.

Each company is counted at most once in each answer that meets the benchmark rules. A recommendation requires both an affirmative endorsement and positive wording. Mention, recommendation, Top 3 and first-place rates use the full benchmark answer total. Top 3 and first-place results are included within recommendations, not added to them.

The recommendation-to-mention ratio divides recommendations by mentions. It describes AI answer wording, not customer conversion. Net framing is positive minus negative mentions, divided by all mentions, on a scale from -1 to +1. It does not measure customer satisfaction or company quality.

Market: US; 10 tracked companies. AI services represented: ChatGPT, Copilot, Gemini, Google AI Mode, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity.

The source does not provide a reader-facing definition of “reserved”; that screening label is reported without inferring a reason for exclusion. Only the included benchmark answers form the rate denominator.

One answer can mention or recommend several companies. Adding company totals would therefore count some answers more than once. The results describe the AI answers reviewed, not independently verified facts about the companies or their products.

July 2026 measured a different set of companies, so it is excluded from this comparison. August 2026 measured a different set of companies, so it is excluded from this comparison. September 2026 measured a different set of companies, so it is excluded from this comparison.

The answer samples differ between months. These comparisons show how the recorded results changed; they do not establish why they changed.

Coverage is partial: some planned question categories contributed usable observations and others did not, so findings apply to the available answer set. The reporting month labels the period, but exact collection dates were not verified.

Each company counts at most once per qualifying answer, and one answer can mention or recommend several companies, so company totals overlap. Recommendation requires both affirmative endorsement and positive wording. Placement results are subsets of recommendations, not additions. Ratios and framing scores describe answer text, not customers or conversion, and the results are not independently verified company facts.
