Answer capsule

The November 2026 Dental insurance benchmark compares 5 companies across 650 AI answers that met its inclusion rules. Delta Dental leads with 471 recommendations (72.46% of answers). At least one tracked company was recommended in 512 answers; some answers recommended several companies.

The rankings distinguish being mentioned from receiving an affirmative recommendation, then examine placement and the wording used about each company. Earlier monthly results show how counts and rates changed, with each month using its own answer total. These results describe the answers reviewed, not product quality or customer satisfaction. Differences between monthly samples limit comparisons and do not establish why a result changed.

The leaderboard orders companies by recommendation count, so it reflects how often each firm received an affirmative endorsement in the reviewed AI answers. That ordering is not a measure of market share, customer preference or product quality. A company can appear in many answers without being recommended, and recommendation counts can diverge from mention counts.

Ties require equal recommendation counts; near-equal counts are not ties. Placements sit inside recommendations rather than beside them, so first-place and shortlist figures should be read as subsets of the recommendation total, not as additional wins.

512 distinct answers recommended at least one tracked company. Counting each company recommendation separately gives 1295, because an answer can recommend several companies. Answers with no tracked recommendation may still have recommended companies outside this comparison.

Coverage describes how often tracked companies appear across the reviewed answers. Most answers named at least one tracked company, and a large majority recommended at least one, while a smaller group recommended several. Because a single answer can endorse more than one firm, company-level totals exceed the number of distinct answers.

These overlapping counts show presence within this answer set, not overall market dominance. Answers recommending no tracked company may still have named firms outside this comparison, so the coverage figures describe only the tracked set.

Reach and affirmative recommendation

Delta Dental ranks 1 by recommendation count. Mentions: 644 (99.08%); recommendations: 471 (72.46%). Top 3 placements: 377 (58.00%); first-place placements: 167 (25.69%).

Wording about the company: 504 positive, 139 neutral, 1 negative mentions. The proportion of mentions that also included a recommendation was 73.1%. The net framing score was 0.78 (defined in Methodology).

173 mentions had no recorded recommendation. Of recorded recommendations, 80.04% were Top 3 and 35.46% were first-place.

Reach separates appearing in an answer from being affirmatively endorsed. Delta Dental was named in nearly every reviewed answer and recommended in most of them, yet a meaningful share of its mentions carried no recorded recommendation. That gap is the difference between presence and endorsement, and it matters for reading the ranking.

Mention counts and recommendation counts answer different questions. A high mention total shows visibility in the answers; a recommendation requires an affirmative endorsement with positive wording. Neither establishes why an answer named or endorsed a company.

Placement describes where a recommended company sat within an answer's ordering. Shortlist and first-place counts are nested inside recommendations, so they refine the recommendation picture rather than adding to it. A company recommended often may still appear near the top less frequently than a rival with fewer total recommendations.

Ratios such as recommendation-to-mention describe the recorded answers only. They are not conversion, sales or customer preference, and a strong ratio on a small base should be read cautiously. Placement reflects answer wording and ordering, not verified product merit.

Framing classifies the wording used about each company in the reviewed answers. Positive, neutral and negative labels describe how the company was discussed, not how customers feel or how good the company is. Most mentions across the tracked set were positive or neutral, with negative wording rare.

A favorable framing score does not explain why recommendations occurred or did not occur. Wording and endorsement are recorded separately, and neither establishes reputation, satisfaction or company quality. Framing is a description of the selected answers, not an external assessment.

From October 2026 to November 2026, Delta Dental's mention count fell from 705 to 644, while its recommendation count fell from 605 to 471. The recommendation rate was 83.45% and 72.46% respectively.

Delta Dental leads the recommendation ranking and was named in almost every reviewed answer, giving it the broadest reach in the tracked set. Its recommendations were frequently placed near the top, and its wording was overwhelmingly positive with very little negative framing.

A notable share of its mentions carried no recorded recommendation, so visibility exceeded endorsement. The month-to-month comparison shows both mention and recommendation counts lower than the prior month, with a lower recommendation rate; the separate samples do not establish why.

Spirit Dental

Questions This Section Answers

  • What do the November 2026 AI answer results show about Spirit Dental mentions, recommendations and placement?

Spirit Dental ranks 2 by recommendation count. Mentions: 548 (84.31%); recommendations: 452 (69.54%). Top 3 placements: 362 (55.69%); first-place placements: 109 (16.77%).

Its recommendation-to-mention ratio was high, meaning mentions frequently came with an affirmative endorsement, and its framing was almost entirely positive with no negative wording recorded.

Its first-place share was smaller than its shortlist share, so it was often recommended without topping the ordering. Both mention and recommendation counts were lower than the prior month, alongside a lower recommendation rate; the separate samples do not explain the change.

Denali Dental

Questions This Section Answers

Only months with verified results are shown. Monthly sample coverage is listed in Methodology.

The monthly history shows separate selected samples of AI answers, each with its own answer total and coverage. Counts, rates and ranks should be read together: a lower count can accompany a stable rate, and a changed rate can occur alongside a changed sample. Rank positions are relative to the tracked set in each month.

Because the samples differ between months, the comparisons show how recorded results changed, not why. They do not establish rank stability, equivalent sampling or the effect of any intervention.

What the November Rankings Show

The November results answer several distinct questions. Reach shows how often a company appeared in the reviewed answers; recommendation shows how often it received an affirmative endorsement; placement shows where endorsements sat within an answer's ordering; and framing describes the wording used. Each measure can move independently, so a company may be widely mentioned yet rarely recommended, or recommended often yet seldom placed first.

Reading these together avoids treating visibility as endorsement or endorsement as customer preference. The counts describe the selected AI answers, not verified company facts, sales or conversion. Monthly comparisons involve separate samples, so changes in counts or rates are recorded observations rather than evidence of cause, improvement or lost standing.

Methodology

Questions This Section Answers

This benchmark has partial coverage: 3 of 3 planned question categories contributed usable observations; 0 contributed none. This describes question-category coverage, not demonstrated platform outages. Findings apply to the available answer set.

The month in the title is the reporting period. The exact dates when the original AI answers were collected have not been verified.

Each company is counted at most once in each answer that meets the benchmark rules. A recommendation requires both an affirmative endorsement and positive wording. Mention, recommendation, Top 3 and first-place rates use the full benchmark answer total. Top 3 and first-place results are included within recommendations, not added to them.

The recommendation-to-mention ratio divides recommendations by mentions. It describes AI answer wording, not customer conversion. Net framing is positive minus negative mentions, divided by all mentions, on a scale from -1 to +1. It does not measure customer satisfaction or company quality.

Market: US; 5 tracked companies. AI services represented: ChatGPT, Copilot, Gemini, Google AI Mode, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity.

The source does not provide a reader-facing definition of “reserved”; that screening label is reported without inferring a reason for exclusion. Only the included benchmark answers form the rate denominator.

One answer can mention or recommend several companies. Adding company totals would therefore count some answers more than once. The results describe the AI answers reviewed, not independently verified facts about the companies or their products.

May 2026 measured a different set of companies, so it is excluded from this comparison. Reliable results for June 2026 are unavailable. This is a gap in the history, not a result of zero.

The answer samples differ between months. These comparisons show how the recorded results changed; they do not establish why they changed.

This benchmark covers a partial set of question categories, and findings apply only to the available answers. The reporting month is a label; exact collection dates were not verified. Each company is counted at most once per answer, and recommendation requires both affirmative endorsement and positive wording. Rates use the full benchmark answer total, and placements are nested within recommendations.

The recommendation-to-mention ratio and net framing describe answer wording, not customers, sales or company quality. One answer can name several companies, so company totals overlap. Monthly samples differ, and comparisons show recorded change without establishing why. A zero is a measured result, not a missing observation.
