Recommendation Placement Snapshot
Questions This Section Answers
- Which video hosting brands lead in top-three and rank-one recommendation rates?
- Can similar recommendation coverage still hide different first-position rates?
Coverage alone does not show how prominently a brand is recommended. Vimeo's rank-one rate of 41.5% and top-three rate of 62.2% in October 2026 both lead the category by wide margins, while Wistia's rank-one rate of 7.8% is the second highest, ahead of Brightcove at 5.6% and Uscreen at 5.2%.
Brand | Oct 2026 top-three rate | Oct 2026 rank-one rate | Jul 2026 top-three rate | Jul 2026 rank-one rate |
|---|---|---|---|---|
Vimeo | 62.2% | 41.5% | 47.6% | 28.8% |
Wistia | 36.3% | 7.8% | 22.6% | 5.8% |
Brightcove | 18.1% | 5.6% | 18.1% | 2.7% |
Vimeo's top-three and rank-one rates both rose from July 2026 to October 2026, and Wistia's top-three rate rose 13.7 percentage points over the same period. Brightcove's top-three rate held flat while its rank-one rate rose, showing that similar coverage figures can still hide different first-position rates.

Evidence and Source Layer
Questions This Section Answers
- What source types and citation patterns appear across AI platform responses?
- What does source presence tell us about the information environment behind the recommendations?
The benchmark is built from prompt-level observations that retain the query, AI/search surface, answer, brand outcome, recommendation placement, sentiment, and, where exposed, citations or attributable evidence sources. Source presence is evidence about the information environment, not proof that the source caused the recommendation.
Scope Boundaries
This public benchmark does not measure market share, attributable sales, every possible AI response, organic-search ranking, social mention volume, private or sponsored channels, or causality from a metric movement alone.
Top 10 Cited Domains
Across all AI platform responses in October 2026, the benchmark recorded 5,646 citations across 1,677 unique domains.
Rank | Domain | Citations | Share | Platforms citing |
|---|---|---|---|---|
1 | youtube.com | 531 | 9.4% | copilot, gemini, google_ai_mode, google_ai_mode_keywords, google_ai_overviews, google_ai_overviews_keywords, perplexity |
2 | vimeo.com | 237 | 4.2% | chatgpt, copilot, gemini, google_ai_mode, google_ai_mode_keywords, google_ai_overviews, google_ai_overviews_keywords, perplexity |
3 | google.com | 219 | 3.9% | google_ai_mode, google_ai_mode_keywords, google_ai_overviews, google_ai_overviews_keywords |
4 | reddit.com | 182 | 3.2% | chatgpt, gemini, google_ai_mode, google_ai_mode_keywords, google_ai_overviews, google_ai_overviews_keywords, perplexity |
5 | vidyard.com | 112 | 2.0% | chatgpt, copilot, gemini, google_ai_mode, google_ai_mode_keywords, google_ai_overviews, google_ai_overviews_keywords, perplexity |
6 | help.vimeo.com | 106 | 1.9% | chatgpt, gemini, google_ai_mode, google_ai_mode_keywords, google_ai_overviews, perplexity |
7 | en.wikipedia.org | 88 | 1.6% | copilot, gemini, google_ai_mode, google_ai_mode_keywords, google_ai_overviews, google_ai_overviews_keywords, perplexity |
8 | uscreen.tv | 80 | 1.4% | chatgpt, copilot, gemini, google_ai_mode, google_ai_mode_keywords, google_ai_overviews, google_ai_overviews_keywords, perplexity |
9 | g2.com | 79 | 1.4% | chatgpt, copilot, gemini, google_ai_mode, google_ai_mode_keywords, google_ai_overviews, google_ai_overviews_keywords, perplexity |
10 | swarmify.com | 53 | 0.9% | copilot, gemini, google_ai_mode, google_ai_mode_keywords, google_ai_overviews, perplexity |
Citations are broadly distributed rather than concentrated: the top 10 domains together account for 28.9% of the 5,646 total citations, and the leading domain, youtube.com, holds 9.4%. Three tracked brands' own domains appear in the top 10: vimeo.com at rank two, vidyard.com at rank five, and uscreen.tv at rank eight. Official brand sites, video platforms, and a review site (g2.com) mingle with community and reference sources such as reddit.com and en.wikipedia.org, so no single source type dominates the evidence layer.
