Benchmark Summary

Questions This Section Answers

  • Which brand leads the Motorcycle Insurance benchmark in October 2026, and by how much?
  • Which brands show the largest cumulative recommendation-coverage gain and decline since the July 2026 baseline?
  • How has category leadership changed across the July-to-October measurement series?

State Farm leads the Motorcycle Insurance benchmark in October 2026 with valid recommendation coverage of 75.3%, ahead of USAA's 74.7% by 0.6 percentage points.

Measured against the July 2026 baseline, Progressive shows the category's largest cumulative gain in valid recommendation coverage, moving from no measurable coverage in July 2026 to 67.1% in October 2026. GEICO RV Insurance shows the largest cumulative decline, falling 11.1 percentage points to no measurable coverage; Progressive RV Insurance also declined 15.3 percentage points over the same span. Only three brands moved beyond normal month-to-month variation; the remaining tracked brands are classified as stable over the series even where they posted a significant month-over-month move.

Against the immediately prior month, USAA recorded the category's largest increase, rising 19.2 percentage points from 55.5% in September 2026 to 74.7% in October 2026, and GEICO RV Insurance recorded the largest decline, falling 4.7 percentage points to no measurable coverage. State Farm, Nationwide, and Allstate also posted significant month-over-month increases, none far enough from the July baseline to change their stable classification.

Across the full July-to-October series, category leadership changed hands each month: USAA led in July 2026 at 77.8%, Progressive led in August 2026 at 69.2%, USAA led again in September 2026 at 55.5%, and State Farm leads in October 2026 at 75.3%. State Farm has now recorded two consecutive monthly increases in valid recommendation coverage, moving from 48.3% in August 2026 to 52.4% in September 2026 and then to 75.3% in October 2026. The benchmark began with 800 prompt-surface observations in each month and produced 158 qualified observations in October 2026 after qualification.

How to Read the Standings

  • Presence rate: Share of qualified observations where the brand is mentioned in the AI response.
  • Valid recommendation coverage: Share of qualified observations where the brand appears in a valid recommendation shortlist.
  • Top-three rate: Share of qualified observations where the brand appears among the top three recommendations.
  • Rank-one rate: Share of qualified observations where the brand is the first recommendation.
  • Net sentiment: Positive mentions minus negative mentions as a share of all mentions.

For formulas and denominator rules, see AI Visibility Market Discovery Metric Definitions.

The benchmark treats standard brand forms and product-specific brand forms as attribution differences rather than pure gains or losses of market presence. In October 2026, GEICO RV Insurance recorded no measurable presence across qualified observations, and the paired standard forms for Geico, Dairyland, and Foremost recorded no measurable coverage in the baseline month.

Largest Increase: Progressive

Measured against the July 2026 baseline, Progressive shows the largest cumulative gain in the category: valid recommendation coverage moved from no measurable level to 67.1%, a change of 67.1 percentage points beyond normal variation. Against the prior month, Progressive rose 22.1 percentage points from 45.0% in September 2026 to 67.1% in October 2026. Progressive posted the category's largest single-month move within the series at 69.2 percentage points, recorded in August 2026.

Recommendation Placement Snapshot

Questions This Section Answers

  • How did top-three and rank-one rates vary among State Farm, USAA, and Progressive in October 2026?
  • Why can similar valid recommendation coverage still hide different first-position rates?
  • How has State Farm's placement profile shifted since July 2026?

Coverage alone does not show how prominently a brand is recommended. Among the leading brands in October 2026, placement rates varied substantially.

Evidence and Source Layer

Questions This Section Answers

  • What does prompt-level source presence measure, and what does it not prove?
  • How should source evidence be interpreted relative to an observed recommendation outcome?

The benchmark is built from prompt-level observations that retain the query, AI/search surface, answer, brand outcome, recommendation placement, sentiment, and, where exposed, citations or attributable evidence sources. Source presence is evidence about the information environment. It is not automatically proof that the source caused the recommendation.

Scope Boundaries

This public benchmark does not measure:

  • Market share or sales attributable to AI recommendations
  • Every possible AI response or surface
  • Organic-search ranking
  • Social mention volume
  • Private or sponsored channels
  • Causality from a metric movement alone

Top 10 Cited Domains

Questions This Section Answers

  • Which domains were cited most often across AI platform responses, and how concentrated were their shares?
  • Which source types dominate the top of the cited-domain list?
  • Did any tracked Motorcycle Insurance brand's own domain appear among the top 10 cited domains?

Across all AI platform responses in this measurement period, 7,268 citations were observed across 754 unique domains. The 10 most-cited domains accounted for the following share of those citations:

Citation concentration in this vertical sits at the upper end of the range but not in a single-source pattern: the top domain, nerdwallet.com, holds 7.0% of citations, while the top 10 domains together account for roughly 40% of the 7,268 citations, leaving a long tail across the remaining 744 domains. Comparison and review sites dominate the top of the list, with nerdwallet.com, usnews.com, thezebra.com, insurify.com, insurance.com, lendingtree.com, moneygeek.com, and marketwatch.com all oriented toward aggregating and comparing insurance products; thezebra.com, insurify.com, insurance.com, lendingtree.com, and moneygeek.com each drew citations from every one of the six canonical surface families. No tracked brand's own domain appears in the top 10. Notably, google.com appears only through AI Mode and AI Overviews, consistent with it functioning as an in-surface navigational source rather than an editorial one.
