Benchmark Summary
Chubb held the top position in valid recommendation coverage in August 2026 at 68.3%, up from 62.7% in July 2026. Chubb was the only tracked brand to post a coverage increase this month, though the size of that move falls within the range of typical month-to-month variation for a brand of its scale. The gap between Chubb and second-place Travelers widened to 16.5 percentage points in August 2026, from 2.2 points in July, as Travelers fell to 51.8% from 60.5% the prior month.
No brand posted a coverage increase large enough to stand out from normal month-to-month movement. The clearer pattern this month was on the decline side: five brands moved down by more than would be expected from ordinary month-to-month variation. Coalition posted the largest decline in the category, falling from 25.0% valid recommendation coverage in July 2026 to 7.9% in August 2026, a drop of 17.1 percentage points. Because July 2026 and August 2026 are the two months currently tracked in this series, this pattern establishes the baseline-to-current trajectory for the benchmark rather than confirming or reversing a longer run.
The benchmark began with 800 prompt-surface observations in each month and produced 139 qualified observations in August 2026 after qualification, down from 228 in July 2026.

How to Read the Standings
- Presence rate: share of qualified observations where the brand appears in any capacity.
- Valid recommendation coverage: share of qualified observations where the brand appears in a valid recommendation shortlist.
- Top-three rate: share of observations where the brand appears among the top three recommended options.
- Rank-one rate: share of observations where the brand is the first recommended option.
- Net sentiment: positive mentions minus negative mentions, divided by total brand mentions.

Recommendation Placement Snapshot
Coverage alone does not show how prominently a brand is recommended. Chubb led both top-three and rank-one placement in August 2026, with Travelers and Hiscox clustered behind.
Brand | Aug 2026 top-three rate | Aug 2026 rank-one rate | Jul 2026 top-three rate | Jul 2026 rank-one rate |

Chubb | 41.0% | 22.3% | 39.0% | 23.7% |
Hiscox | 27.3% | 7.9% | 26.8% | 3.5% |

Evidence and Source Layer
The benchmark is built from prompt-level observations that retain the query, AI/search surface, answer, brand outcome, recommendation placement, sentiment, and where exposed, citations or attributable evidence sources. Source presence is evidence about the information environment. It is not automatically proof that the source caused the recommendation.
Scope Boundaries
This public benchmark does not measure market share, attributable sales, every possible AI response, organic-search ranking, social mention volume, or private and sponsored channels. A metric movement alone does not establish causality.
