Research Scope and Qualification

The public benchmark is narrower than the raw collection universe by design. Brand-level percentages use the qualified observations as the public denominator, not the raw collection.

How to Read the Standings

  • Presence rate: the share of qualified observations where the brand is mentioned at all.
  • Valid recommendation coverage: the share of qualified observations where the brand receives a valid recommendation.
  • Top-three rate: the share of qualified observations where the brand appears among the top three recommended options.
  • Rank-one rate: the share of qualified observations where the brand is the first recommendation.
  • Net sentiment: the balance of positive over neutral and negative mentions, scaled from 0 to 1.

Presence rate remained comparatively stable at 94.1%, indicating the issue is recommendation conversion, not discoverability.

Largest Decline: SAP Ariba

SAP Ariba's valid recommendation coverage fell from 62.6% in July 2026 to 42.9% in August 2026, down 19.7 percentage points, beyond normal variation. Category Leader: Coupa

Coupa remained the category leader in August 2026 with valid recommendation coverage of 45.2%, ahead of SAP Ariba at 42.9%. Coupa's lead narrowed from 3.0 percentage points in July 2026 to 2.3 percentage points in August 2026, as both brands posted significant declines.

Recommendation Placement Snapshot

Coverage alone does not show how prominently a brand is recommended. While Coupa and SAP Ariba lead in valid recommendation coverage, their top-three and rank-one rates reveal how often they appear in the most prominent positions.

Evidence and Source Layer

The benchmark is built from prompt-level observations that retain the query, AI/search surface, answer, brand outcome, recommendation placement, sentiment, and, where exposed, citations or attributable evidence sources. Source presence is evidence about the information environment. It is not automatically proof that the source caused the recommendation.

Scope Boundaries

This public benchmark does not measure market share, attributable sales, every possible AI response, organic-search ranking, social mention volume, private or sponsored channels, or causality from a metric movement alone. The current dataset cannot answer pricing or comparison questions.

About This Benchmark

The LLM Authority Index AI Market Discovery Index tracks how often brands appear in AI-generated responses across major AI/search surfaces, using a structured research methodology applied to a defined prompt universe each month.

Get a Company-Level Authority Index

The public industry benchmark shows category-level standings. A company-level Authority Index can go deeper. The public percentage cannot identify the prompts, competitors, or sources causing the result.
