How to Read the Standings

Presence rate is the share of qualified observations where the brand appears in any form in the AI response.

Valid recommendation coverage is the share of qualified observations where the brand receives a genuinely valid recommendation, regardless of position.

Top-three rate is the share of qualified observations where the brand appears in one of the top three recommendation slots.

Rank-one rate is the share of qualified observations where the brand is the single first recommendation.

Net sentiment is the share of positive mentions minus the share of negative mentions, relative to all mentions.

For formulas and denominator rules, see AI Market Discovery Metric Definitions.

Largest Increase: Ryder

Ryder posted the largest coverage gain of the month, rising from 7.3% valid recommendation coverage in July 2026 to 9.0% in August 2026. This came even as its presence rate fell from 29.8% to 26.0%, meaning Ryder was recommended in a higher share of responses despite appearing in fewer responses overall. Its top-three rate edged up from 2.1% to 2.2%, and its rank-one rate rose from 0.2% to 0.4%. The gain remains within normal month-to-month variation.

Largest Decline: U-Haul

U-Haul posted the largest coverage decline, falling from 48.2% valid recommendation coverage in July 2026 to 47.4% in August 2026. Its presence rate held nearly steady (93.1% to 93.2%). U-Haul's top-three rate rose from 41.3% to 41.7% and its rank-one rate edged up from 19.1% to 19.2%, and its underlying count of valid recommendations also held up, so the rate decline reflects a qualified observation base that grew faster than U-Haul's recommendation count rather than a drop in placement quality. The move sits within normal month-to-month variation.

Recommendation Placement Snapshot

Coverage alone does not show how prominently a brand is recommended. A leading brand can be present in many answers while still appearing lower in the recommendation order.

Evidence and Source Layer

The benchmark is built from prompt-level observations that retain the query, AI/search surface, answer, brand outcome, recommendation placement, sentiment, and, where exposed, citations or attributable evidence sources. Source presence is evidence about the information environment. It is not automatically proof that the source caused the recommendation.

Scope Boundaries

This public benchmark does not measure market share, attributable sales, every possible AI response, organic-search ranking, social mention volume, private or sponsored channels, or causality from a metric movement alone.

About This Benchmark

The LLM Authority Index AI Market Discovery Index tracks how often and how prominently brands appear in AI-generated responses across six canonical AI/search surface families, using a consistent, methodology-driven monthly measurement.
