  • Top-three rate is the share of qualified observations where the brand appears among the top three recommended options.
  • Rank-one rate is the share of qualified observations where the brand is the first or only recommendation.
  • Net sentiment is the balance of positive over negative mentions among observed mentions.

The series reversed direction in October 2026 after two months of decline for several brands. Accenture, Deloitte, Capgemini, and Cognizant had each posted lower coverage in every month from July through September 2026 before rising sharply in October 2026.

Largest Increase: Accenture

Accenture recorded the largest increase in the series, with valid recommendation coverage rising from 48.0% in July 2026 to 69.9% in October 2026, a gain of 21.9 points. Most of that gain came in October, when coverage rose 28.6 points from 41.3% in September 2026. Placement strengthened alongside coverage: Accenture's top-three rate rose from 46.5% in July 2026 to 66.3% in October 2026, and its rank-one rate rose from 40.6% to 58.9% over the same period. Its presence rate held essentially flat, from 99.2% in July 2026 to 99.1% in October 2026.

Additional Increase: IBM Consulting

IBM Consulting's valid recommendation coverage rose from 38.1% in July 2026 to 58.7% in October 2026. The series was not monotonic: coverage reached 39.2% in August 2026 and then slipped to 37.4% in September 2026 before the October rise. Its top-three rate climbed from 25.4% in July 2026 to 47.4% in October 2026, while its rank-one rate rose from 0.9% to 2.5%.

Category Leader: Accenture

Accenture remained the benchmark leader in October 2026 with 69.9% valid recommendation coverage, 11.2 points ahead of IBM Consulting. Both its top-three rate and rank-one rate increased across the series, and its net sentiment reading moved from 0.7 in July 2026 to 0.8 in October 2026.

Recommendation Placement Snapshot

Questions This Section Answers

  • How does first-position recommendation rate differ between Accenture and IBM Consulting despite similar coverage?
  • Which leaders appear in the top three most often in October 2026?

Coverage alone does not show how prominently a brand is recommended. Among the leaders, Accenture appears first in a majority of qualified observations, while other high-coverage brands appear first far less often.

Similar coverage rates can still hide very different first-position rates, as seen between Accenture at 58.9% and IBM Consulting at 2.5% in October 2026.

Evidence and Source Layer

Questions This Section Answers

  • What does the benchmark capture at the prompt-observation level, and what does source presence not prove?
  • Which domains are cited most often across AI platform responses in this measurement period?
  • Are citations concentrated among a few authoritative sources or broadly distributed across the information environment?

The benchmark is built from prompt-level observations that retain the query, AI/search surface, answer, brand outcome, recommendation placement, sentiment, and, where exposed, citations or attributable evidence sources. Source presence is evidence about the information environment. It is not automatically proof that the source caused the recommendation.

Scope Boundaries

  • This public benchmark does not measure market share or attributable sales.
  • It does not capture every possible AI response, only the qualified prompt-surface observations described above.
  • It does not measure organic-search ranking or social mention volume.
  • It does not observe private or sponsored channels.
  • Causality cannot be established from a metric movement alone.

Across all AI platform responses in this measurement period, 6,199 citations were observed across 1,983 unique domains.

Citations are broadly distributed rather than concentrated: the ten most-cited domains together account for less than 17% of the 6,199 total citations observed in the month, and no single domain exceeds 3.0% share. No tracked brand's own domain appears in the top ten. The leading sources are general platforms and community or career-oriented sites, including video, professional networking, encyclopedic, forum, and employer-review domains, alongside one industry research publisher. This suggests AI recommendations in this vertical draw on a wide information environment rather than a small set of authoritative sources.
