Benchmark Summary

Questions This Section Answers

  • Which brand led AI recommendation coverage in October 2026, and by how much?
  • Which brand recorded the largest coverage decline since the July 2026 baseline?

Next Insurance remained the valid recommendation coverage leader in October 2026 at 64.8%, up from a series low of 52.1% in September 2026, and held a 30.4 point lead over Hiscox Usa at 34.4% in October 2026, the next closest brand. The largest coverage increase since baseline was Hiscox Usa, which rose from 0.0% in July 2026 to 34.4% in October 2026, with a 6.6 point gain from 27.8% in September 2026, the second consecutive month its move exceeded normal month-to-month variation. The largest coverage decline since baseline was Hiscox, which fell from 68.6% in July 2026 to 0.0% in October 2026, reflecting a shift in which brand name appears in recommendations rather than continuous movement of a single entity. Next Insurance's rise from 52.1% in September 2026 to 64.8% in October 2026 was a significant month-over-month gain, recovering much of the ground it lost since July 2026.

The October 2026 benchmark produced 486 qualified observations after qualification, down from 582 in July 2026.

Qualified surface breadth counts the canonical AI/search surface families with at least one qualified observation. September 2026 carried 482 qualified observations between the July and October readings, and August 2026 carried 611.

How to Read the Standings

Presence rate is the share of qualified observations where the brand is mentioned at all. Valid recommendation coverage is the share of qualified observations where the brand appears in a valid recommendation shortlist. Top-three rate is the share where the brand appears in the first three recommended positions. Rank-one rate is the share where the brand is the first recommendation. Net sentiment is the balance of positive over negative mentions, expressed on a scale from 0 to 1; it reflects how the benchmark's observed mentions skew, not independently measured customer satisfaction.

For formulas and denominator rules, see AI Visibility Market Discovery Metric Definitions.

Company Spotlight: Vouch Insurance

Vouch Insurance's October 2026 standing shows a presence rate of 4.1%, valid recommendation coverage of 1.8%, a top-three rate of 1.7%, a rank-one rate of 1.0%, and net sentiment of 0.50. Coverage has risen for three consecutive months, from 0.7% in July 2026 to 1.2% in September 2026 to 1.8% in October 2026, though the cumulative move since baseline remains within normal variation and is not yet classified as a trend.

Next Insurance records 64.8% on valid recommendation coverage, while Vouch Insurance stands at 1.8%. The more important issue is what that gap means for Vouch Insurance's recommendation position. The same pattern holds on first-choice placement: Next Insurance's rank-one rate is 23.7% against Vouch Insurance's 1.0%. Vouch Insurance's presence rate of 4.1% is also not converting fully into recommendation: only 1.8 of every 4.1 qualified observations that mention the brand place it in a valid recommendation shortlist, a narrower conversion rate than the category leader shows at 98.4% presence against 64.8% coverage. Left unresolved, this recommendation gap means Vouch Insurance's existing visibility in qualified AI observations is producing proportionally fewer actual recommendations than it is for the category leader.

The paid deep-dive adds competitor threat profiles, the gap matrix, citation failure map, platform-by-platform recovery roadmap, and client-specific economic modeling.

Highest-priority diagnostic: Why is Vouch Insurance's presence in qualified AI observations (4.1%) converting into valid recommendations (1.8%) and rank-one placement (1.0%) at a materially lower rate than the category leader, and what would need to change in cited content or placement to close that gap?

Evidence and Source Layer

Questions This Section Answers

  • What source and citation information does the benchmark retain for each observation?
  • Does source presence prove that a source caused a brand recommendation?

This benchmark is built from prompt-level observations that retain the query, AI/search surface, answer, brand outcome, recommendation placement, sentiment, and, where exposed, citations or attributable evidence sources. Source presence is evidence about the information environment. It is not automatically proof that the source caused the recommendation.

Scope Boundaries

This public benchmark does not measure market share, attributable sales, every possible AI response, organic-search ranking, social mention volume, or private and sponsored channels. A metric movement alone does not establish causality. The shift from Hiscox to Hiscox Usa as the tracked brand name reflects how the brand appears in recommendations, not a change in the underlying company.
