Largest Decline: Blue Apron

Blue Apron's valid recommendation coverage fell to 44.3% in October 2026 from 52.9% in August 2026, a decline of 8.6 percentage points that went beyond normal variation. The brand has now declined in each of the two months since August 2026. The decline appeared across placement signals: raw mention presence rate fell to 51.7% in October 2026 from 62.6% in August 2026 (down 10.9 points) and rank-one rate fell to 9.6% from 14.5% (down 4.9 points), while the top-three rate declined to 26.1% from 29.4% (down 3.3 points).

Category Leader: Factor

Factor held the highest valid recommendation coverage at 78.6% in October 2026, unchanged from 78.6% in August 2026. Recommendation Placement Snapshot

Questions This Section Answers

  • Which meal delivery brand is most often the first recommendation?
  • How can a brand with lower coverage still hold a stronger first-choice position?
  • Which brands had the highest top-three and rank-one rates in October 2026?

Coverage alone does not show how prominently a brand is recommended. HelloFresh, second on coverage, holds the strongest first-choice position, with a top-three rate of 58.2% and a rank-one rate of 24.2% in October 2026. CookUnity followed at 41.9% and 18.0%, while coverage leader Factor posted 39.9% and 13.2% in the same month.

Citations are moderately concentrated at the top: the ten most-cited domains account for a combined 46.4% of all citations, while the remaining 660 domains share the rest. None of the tracked meal delivery brands' own domains appear in the top 10. The pattern is dominated by food and lifestyle publishers (bonappetit.com, goodhousekeeping.com, seriouseats.com, foodnetwork.com) alongside general news (nbcnews.com), consumer technology reviews (cnet.com), user-generated platforms (youtube.com, reddit.com), and a health information site (healthline.com), suggesting that editorial and review sources shape this vertical's AI recommendations more than official brand sites.

Evidence and Source Layer

This benchmark is built from prompt-level observations that retain the query, AI/search surface, answer, brand outcome, recommendation placement, sentiment, and, where exposed, citations or attributable evidence sources. Source presence is evidence about the information environment. It is not automatically proof that the source caused the recommendation.

Scope Boundaries

This public benchmark does not measure:

  • Market share, attributable sales, or conversions from AI responses
  • Every possible AI response a user could receive for a given query
  • Organic-search ranking performance
  • Social media mention volume or sentiment
  • Private or sponsored channels such as branded plugins or paid placements
  • Causality from a metric movement alone
