  • Top-three rate: share of qualified observations where the brand appears in the first three recommended positions.
  • Rank-one rate: share of qualified observations where the brand is the first or only recommendation.
  • Net sentiment: positive minus negative mentions divided by total mentions, ranging from -1 to 1.

Largest Decline: Microsoft SharePoint

Microsoft SharePoint fell to zero valid recommendations in September 2026. The brand recorded no valid recommendations in September 2026, zero top-three placements, and zero rank-one placements, down from 5 valid recommendations in July 2026. Recommendation Placement Snapshot

Coverage alone does not show how prominently a brand is recommended. The placement snapshot shows how often a brand appears in the top three and first positions. For the leading brands in September 2026:

Similar coverage can still hide different first-position rates. Google Workspace's 27.6% rank-one rate is more than five times IONOS's 5.1%, despite a gap in overall coverage of 21.1 points.

Evidence and Source Layer

The benchmark is built from prompt-level observations that retain the query, AI/search surface, answer, brand outcome, recommendation placement, sentiment, and, where exposed, citations or attributable evidence sources. Source presence is evidence about the information environment. It is not automatically proof that the source caused the recommendation.

Scope Boundaries

This public benchmark does not measure:

  • Market share or sales attribution
  • Every possible AI response or surface beyond the six canonical families
  • Organic-search ranking or social mention volume
  • Private or sponsored channels
  • Causality from a metric movement alone

Metric movements in this series should not be treated as causal proof of brand or market performance.
